Difficult question about trilogies

Do we know if there is actually an answer to this? Has an actor actually appeared in all 3 films of 3 different trilogies, or are we chasing something that doesn't actually exist?

We could argue about this all day
but please answer me this how do you explain your theory in the context of Alien or Jurassic park or the upcoming X-men 4 p.s I'M STILL RIGHT

Once a film series passes three films then it's no longer a trilogy, but a quadrology or quadrilogy, or something like that. No-one refers to the Alien trilogy anymore because there's four of them, so yes, once JP and X-Men hit four films, the series will cease to be a trilogy.

Well, I think that list shows all that is wrong with Wikepedia ! ;)

Didn't realise that Alien Vs Predator was part of a trilogy (the Predator one). Does that also make it Alien 5 ?.

And it's a bit naughty including films that haven't been made yet !!

I don't think there is an answer to this one. Jackie Chan was in Police Story 1-4 , the first three (out of four) "Lucky Stars" movies and is currently filming Rush Hour 3 so it's close but no cigar.

Actually, being pedantic here. A trilogy is any three consecutive films (or books) that follow the same story. So, Star treks 2, 3 and 4 can be considered a trilogy.

The Romans (I think). WorRAB like annual (for one) duo and bi (two), tres and tri (three) and quad (four) etc derive from Latin. A trilogy is a series of three books, plays or films, just as three babies are caled triplets. These aren't just random worRAB.

Yes, because it contains three films, but once the fourth one is out and released as a box set, it will no longer be the trilogy box set, but the quad-whatever box set.

Well, I never said it wasn't. Personally I call it a nonilogy.[/QUOTE]

No. The etymology of 'annual' is from 'annus', and means that it is pertaining to a year. It has nothing to do with 'one'.

Why? There's only six? GL intimated he might have liked to make nine at some point, but has long since changed his mind. There will only ever be six movies (the two distinct trilogies). I guess you could be counting the Thrawn trilogy (as close to 7,8,9 as you'll ever get) but they're not, and never will be, movies.

To add to the "close but no cigar" lot, Danny Trejo was in all 3 Spy KiRAB movies, all 3 Dusk 'til Dawn movies, and two of the three Mariachi trilogy.

Soooo close.

You can also add Mike Myers to the "almost" category:

3 Austin Powers films
3 Shrek films (the third currently filming)
2 Wayne's World films

Soo close again...

Incidentally, I recently found out that the word 'quadrilogy' was made up by Fox to promote the Alien box set. The correct world for a four part series is a 'tetralogy'.

I think Harrison Ford, Danny Trejo and Mike Myers should be ashamed of themselves - the little teases.

Sylvester Stallone was in the Rambo trilogy, the Rocky series (have we decided on the cut-off point for trilogies yet?), and is set to star in Toy Story 3 which has just gone into production.

This is the best i can come up with :)

Lots :D

I was thinking of Eddie Murphy

3 Beverly Hills Cop Movies
3 Shrek Movies
but only 2 of the Dr Doolittle movies.

Why couldn't he have been in the 3rd movie, then we would have had the answer ;)
