This is my fifth day on the stuff. I'm very frustrated because my face is breaking out even more. I realize that it happens at first, but my face was horrible before. I just try to cover it up with makeup after I put the duac on, but my face is still covered in bumps. My face is already incredibly scarred from having acne since 14. I'm 19 now and want it all to GO AWAY.
Has anyone had any luck with Duac and Differin? Someone who has moderare to severe acne?
Oh, and changing my diet did not work for me. I was vegan for a month and nothing changed. I still had acne...all over my face. I was also on Docyclycline...which did not help even after upped dosages, but that was when I was 15/16
P.S. My face is itching like crazy.

Differin worked for me, and I've had acne since I was 13 or 14, and I'm 19 now, also. Now my acne isn't too bad, but i know longer use Differin because of the cost. Have you tried microderm abrasion? That helps to get rid of scarring. Also Neutrogena's Acne Scar Fading Mask GREATLY reduces scarring and red marks. They show advertisements of before and after photos, and at first I was sketical. But it truly does work. You can't hardly see my scars anymore, they are almost totally faded. There is also a type of Chinese acne pill which works internally. I took it for a couple months because my face was so dried out and rough, and it made my skin incredibly soft! I stopped taking it a nuraber of months ago and my face is still soft! My fiance even commented on it. I can't remeraber the name...I'll see if I can't find it for you.

You also mentioned that you try to cover your acne with makeup. What kind do you use? I had to experiment with different kinRAB to find one that didn't aggravate my acne. I don't know if you already know, but neitrogena finally started coming out with makeup for people with acne that has salicylic (sp?) acid in it. It is very light on your skin, but has good coverage. Of course everyone is different, but for me personally I was able to cover up my acne AND be fighting it at the same time, so I didn't worry about it making things work.

If your face is itchy, that means it's irritated. Stop using both for a week or so. After that maybe just don't use them both at the same time, i.e. use Duac one day and Differin the next or Differin in the morning and Duac at night on the same day. If you don't want to do that you at least need to let your skin adjust gradually. Start by using them every third day for two weeks...the third week use them every other day...by the fifth week you can do every day.

Trust me, this may take longer but irritating your skin doesn't help anything, it just makes it worse. For the itching I like Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Cleanser and also the Night Cream (it's expensive and only sold in drugstores though). At least use aloe or something soothing till the itchiness goes away. Good Luck

hey yos. the makeup i'm using is physician's formula cover stick. you know, the one with the concealer on one end the the green stuff on the other?
Lorealle something foundation. Imfallible? yeah. that.
then on top of that i put this maybelline pure stay stuff. which has a sunscreen. it's a foundation powder. i like it a whole lot.
my acne is not getting better. sometimes i think that it's healing...but it isn't. it neeRAB more time.
before we went out tonight, i was putting on makeup and my face was incredibly dry. i got so mad and scrubbed off the dry skin...which was probably a really bad idea. but whatever.
i know i should alternate my days with the meRAB, but i'm not going to. i'm not patient enough. i think it's just itchy because it's so dry.
but thanks guys, for responding and all.
listening to the smiths puts me into a better mood:)

Yes it's itchy because it's dry, and it's dry because you're using too much at one time! I guess you could just wait and see if your skin adjusts, but if you have itchiness and pimples, what's the harm in just having pimples for a few weeks if you do it gradually? I'm telling you, dry skin isn't good because it just clogs pores even more. When my face is itchy from new stuff it drives me crazy! Whatever floats your boat, though. :)

At least use a moisturizer if you aren't already, and like I said some kind of soothing or moisturizing cleanser.

eh, well, scrubs can be irritating too... but maybe st. ives would be OK, I like the apricot one. They also have a moisturizing one with little beaRAB.
