Differences between NGE and Rebuild 1.0

I just watched Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 on Blu Ray and I liked it. The battle animation was great and the dub was well done. This led to a question I wanted to ask here for fun. What are the differences between the first Rebuild movie and the first 6 episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion it was based on? I will get the most obvious stuff out of the way.

* The animation is better and enhanced with CGI.
* The sea is red now.
* Operation Yashima is bigger in scale.
* Misato shows Shinji the 2nd Angel, Lillith, much earlier than in the series.
* There is a new scene at the very end with a naked Kaworu on the Moon talking to a Seele monolith.

I hope hear stuff on characters like Shinji and Misato.

These are a few things I (and a few others on the internet) have noticed.

Shinji and Misato's conversation in the car is completely different than the one in the series. It shows how Shinji is more cynical than he was in the TV series.

Misato revealing Lilith as Lilith so soon means that Misato knows everything about Second Impact from the beginning, unlike in the series. This can be attributed by her higher rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the movies.

The angels dissolve once they are defeated which makes things at a little tricky. The angel with energy whips that Shinji stabbed to death, Shamsel, was the angel from which Nerv got a core sample. That core sample was used to make a S2 engine prototype for Eva Unit 04. Without that sample, Eva Unit 04 would not disappear with the Nerv 2nd Branch in the US. However, it still disappears in Rebuild 2.0 if the preview at the end of Rebuild 1.0 is true.

When the first angel in the series, Sachiel, is healing itself from the N2 mine explosion, Gendo and Fuyutsuki mention that the angels have the Fruit of Life and humans have the Fruit of Wisdom. This is not explicitly said in the series. It's hinted in some parts of the series and only said explicitly in End of Evangelion.

There is a mysterious chalk outline seen in the first few minutes of Rebuild 1.0. No one talks about it or hints anything about it in the movie. Some people believe that it is an outline of a petrified Mass Production Eva left over from Third Impact as "proof" that Rebuild of Evangelion is a sequel to the TV series and End of Evangelion. I am not one of those people.

Seele and Gendo speak of the Human Instrumentality Project as their "Covenant with Lilith." It can be a new, twisted way in seeing Instrumentality as a religious rite as that is how Seele rolls.

There are nine coffins on the Moon when Kaworu emerges. Four to the left of Kaworu are opened, Kaworu was in the fifth coffin, and the other four to Kaworu's right are still closed. There could be multiple Kaworu bodies in the coffins, but the biggest thing about this is Kaworu seems knowledgeable of the current events. What does this mean? I have no idea.

Another thing on the Moon with Kaworu is an excavation site with an unarmored Eva. An Eva was found on the Moon. Something is not right with that sentence. Rebuild 2.0 may have a better explanation since it seems to go over Second Impact.

IMO, the angels were being kept in the coffins. Since Four had been awakened before. You'll see the new "Third" angel in 2.0)

(Adam and Lilith are different and do not count there)

I am not a big fan of the "angels in the coffins" theory because there are nine coffins and there are supposed to be 12 angels, including Adam and Lilith. Remove the SeeRAB of Life from the list, you get 10 angels. We are missing a coffin. Also, angels are born from eggs from Adam. Using the angel in Magma Diver as reference, those eggs have to be huge to house an angel. Those coffins are of normal, human size. The theory is a little too weak to be true.

It would be interesting if true. I thought it was a pretty far out there theory until I heard kaworu's lines in the movie, sounding a bit "this time, it'll be different" -ish.

that leaves only two more before Kaworu's part, so, IIRC, they'll change the order again to put an old or new one in there as well.

Israfel, the angel that splits into two, is one angel, only one angel. Iruel, the angel that took over the Magi, was made up of millions of nano-sized creatures and is still one angel. That logic will not work for the coffins.

I am not saying that the chalk outline is there for no reason, but a good portion of the items used as proof are explained in either End of Evangelion or Rebuild 2.0. The red oceans in Rebuild?
Side effect from Second Impact. Antarctica in the series had its waters purplish red. Rebuild did it on a global scale.
Kaworu's scene?
The direct translation of Kaworu's worRAB after the Seele monolith vanishes is, "The third, again? It has not changed. I look forward to meeting you, Shinji Ikari" Kaworu says the first two sentences when facing Eva Unit 06 and the last sentence when facing Earth. Kaworu could be talking about Unit 06 as the third and then talk about meeting Shinji.

Humans are NOT the last angel. People take Misato's line in End of Evangelion too literally. She says that "we are like the 18th angel" because humans came from Lilith. Adam is the progenitor of the angels. Adam's oRABpring are angels and Lilith is only an angel in name only.

No.
The sequel theory is a terrible theory.
Rebuild is a new story in a universe of it's own. It is not a sequel to Neon Genesis Evangelion.
They're plenty, plenty of counter-arguments and in rebuild-universe (especially when bringing in 2.0) explanations to counter any sequel theory anyone has brought up.

For example, the chalk outline seen in the beginning of 1.0 could mostly likely have been an early attempt at fighting Sachiel with the Eva Unit.

I'd love, love to say some more but unfortunately I don't have the time at the moment.

I clearly said that Lilith is an angel in name only. It was easier to call Lilith the 2nd angel than the 2nd large white alien we found in an underground cavern. Gendo called Adam the first human in the last scene of episode 8. Does that mean that Adam is human? No because it was a poetic license. Adam was the first living being on Earth so Gendo called it the first human. Lilith is called the 2nd angel for convenience only.

When Toji asks Shinji to punch him in order to get forgiveness from him, Shinji doesn't hesitate like in the series and does it right away. I guess this shows that Shinji is a little more proactive here.
