Differences between Medieval II Total War editions?

What are the differences between the different medieval II total war editions? I heard there are three kinds, the normal edition, the gold edition, and the Kingdoms edition. Can someone please state the differences. Also, why is the kingdoms edition cheaper than the regular one on steam? Thank you.
