I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the differences between the two. I've always found both fascinating and beautiful. This interest was ignited via my life-long love for martial arts, but has extended to nearly all aspects of their cultures. I associate Ninja and Samurai with Japan, and Kung Fu with China. Are the differences between the cultures somewhat analogous to the differences in these martial arts? Kung Fu is more aesthetically oriented, while Karate and Japanese martial arts seem more rigid and based in simplicity and practical function. Likewise, the architectures seem to vary in the same manner, though I understand Japanese architecture was originally adopted from China. Do Japanese people tend to view the Chinese as inferior? Also, how do both cultures view Americans (who appreciate their cultures) who take up residence in their country? Are they generally viewed/treated with much prejudice? Are they viewed as outsiders? Anyhow, I appreciated any corrections to the notions I have thus far describes, as well as any additional thoughts you feel I may find interesting/relevant. Thanks.
Oh...and any comments on the differences in their music?
