Difference in brain waves/behavior between an average person, and one who

is well established in meditation? I am into this whole peace, high-level consciousness, and meditation. At the same time, I am in school getting a degree in the Engineering Department. So I wonder, is there actual, concrete, scientific evidence of there being a difference in the brain activity in a person who has mastered the mental techniques of meditation, peace and clarity of mind? As opposed to one who, simply does not practice these mental procedures?

It's just that I find it quite interesting how these meditative masters can literally have control and manipulation over their physiology, and reality simply by their mental control. And to me, there HAS to be something going on, chemically, hormonally, electrically etc. Essentially, I don't think it's some magic trick, I think that having SUCH control over your mind, could definitely change one's body.

So, if anything, what differences occur in the brain of such people? Higher activity in one area? Less in another? More cerebral usage?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
