Difference between intramural sports, and club sports?

I want to play lacrosse in college, and even though I will have probably practiced a bit by then, i won't have played for my high school or any real team, which puts me at a real disadvantage to join intercollegiate since the schools im aiming for have Div 1 in lacrosse.

So whats the difference between intramural and club, since someone said I could play lacrosse intramural or club, but i dont know what it means..
 
Intramural anyone can play and is only played against other teams within your college.

Club team you have to try out for and if you make it you travel to other colleges in your area and play their club team.
