Okay as I type I can barely see the keyboard. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. This week has truly been difficult but this board and all of you are helping me get thru it. I love this board and all the support that WE ALL provide one another. It is comforting to know that we can come together and discuss our those frightening moments or just to vent.

Tonight hubby and I was outside by the pool, walking, and my leg gave out. I sturabled and fell hitting the pavement. My hubby feels terrible that he was not able to catch me. I landed hard on my knees and they are all scraped open. Hubby just shook his head, made sure I was okay, and then said man this is our 40's, I can't wait to see what the 50's bring! ;) I wasn't sure whether to trip him and make him land in the artic pool water or to sit down and cry.

Anyway, thanks for being here and supporting me through this journey. I am so appreciative of the healtrabroadoarRAB and each one of you. I could not make it without you.

Hey Pepper-If its not one thing it another, huh? I am sorry for the fall and hope that those knees aren't too messed up. I am also thinking about you and am waiting for some good news from you.

You are in my prayers,
Lorie:angel:

Thanks Lorie. It truly has been one thing after another. This month has been the pits. It is the weirdest thing because I am stable one minute and I just never know when my leg is going to give out. There is no rhyme or reason for it. I am sure there are other people on the board going thru it too. I guess it is nerve related. ??

I was just wondering if you have a problem with drop foot? I was having a problem with falling and I had not realized that one of my feet has a hard time lifting all the way off the ground, the longer I walk.

Just a thought,
Lorie:angel:

I don't think so. The only thing we have noticed is that sometimes I stub my toes - so maybe I might have a slight problem if that is possible. I usually have the leg collapsing thing when my nerve pain is elevated.

Pepper, I have the same thing - when my nerve pain gets really bad, I also "lose" my leg and fall. It hasn't happened in a while (thank goodness) but came close Monday after a 9 hour car trip home and severe pain (ending up requiring a pain shot the next morning).

It is because of this that I don't go anywhere with confidence unless hubby is right with me. This morning, I think I will go to church, but I am so nervous. I have had such a tough week recovering from that trip - will this morning knock me backwarRAB?

When I get to church, I always go sit down very early, anywhere I can find a seat, and I stay there. Getting up and moving around is dangerous for me, and hubby is ushering and helping with other things most mornings, but if I am doing really poorly, he will get someone to take over for him.

I don't know about you, but I get about a half second notice and then boom, I'm on my way down. I am good about using my cane or even my walker, though, because after fainting/falling in February, I realize how devastating such a crash to the ground can do to my body.

When we were moving down here 2 years ago and just prior to my 2nd surgery, we stopped at a restaurant to eat, and upon leaving, I wiped out. I mean, I fell HARD. My drink went flying, my thick plastic soda cup bust open, and my knees skinned up pretty severely. The guys had already left the restaurant ahead of me and were going to drive the trucks to get gas and I was to meet them. It was almost dusk, and as I was walking to the car, the pavement became uneven and I fell. It was only then that I realized I must not be lifting my foot much at all to have fallen because of that little of a difference in pavement. It was newly paved and very very smooth, but not completely flat. I would have almost had to have been scooting my foot across the ground to have been messed up that bad. We had no idea.

I was in surgery 2 weeks later for my 2nd back surgery.

I hope this week goes by quickly for you. I pray the pain lessens enough that you can do other activities to help pass the time.

( ( HUGS))
