oh and what would the insurance be like on this...new driver friendly?

Congratulations on your pass. Oh, I remember my first diesel car. Loved it. The diesel was cheaper then but it`s not that tragic a difference now. The thing about diesels is, the engine goes on and on, and a petrol engine would be coming to the end of it`s life after about 100k miles. As for the insurance. It`s ouch, at your age. Depends on the area. If uni is a big city, might be cheaper to insure it from your parents, your home address. But I guess you have to tell the insurance every material thing, or they may not pay out. Could cost 1 and a half thousand.

Not quite sure about insurance. You would have to call around and get quotes.

As far as the diesel? Go for it. If it runs good then you have yourself a winner. Diesel engines will far outlast a gas engine and require a little less maintenance. Keep up with the oil and filters and you probably won't have to worry about much more than that.
