Die Hard

It's on again (ITV 2 11PM) and guess who just got a 46inch LCD TV. :D

Still the best of the series, didn't think the latest one even was a Die Hard film, no English villain with a dodgy German accent.

Worth watching just for Alan Rickman I think, he's so brilliant in it. Almost twenty years old now, how time flies.

Die hard 2 will be on as well this week on ITV2 but i wonder why don't they show Die hard 3 anymore. And i just seen the TV guide and it says Die hard 3 is on BBC1 during the week after new year. still at least it won't be so cut up with adverts.

I don't think the BluRay release will be uncut. They knew soon after release that the R2 DVD was of a badly edited version, yet they didn't do anything to change that, they even made an ultimate 6 disc box set with brand new uncut versions of DH1 and DH2, but the DH3 in the box was just the same discs from before, complete with the old BBFC 15 logos on it.

According to the BBFC, Die Hard 3 is still a 15 and edited by 12 seconRAB in total to remove violence. It's probably also the version with almost every F word dubbed out. So, it doesn't look like it will be released uncut anytime soon.

Don't get the Quadrilogy boxset! Die Hard 4.0 is the theatrical cut with no swearing and minimal violence, Fox have been very cheeky with this in my opinion.

And no, the Blu Ray version of DH3 isn't uncut, it's the same as the old DVD. This is due to the company that owns the rights to DH3 not being bothered about getting it re-certified by the BBFC.

I'm sure I have some ghastly cut to shreRAB version of DH3. The shoot out in the lift is missing and you wonder how he got all bloodied.

Buy the R1 version on Playusa.com. I got the 2 disc one there, exactly the same as the UK R2 version in terms of features, only difference is that it's uncut and has a nicer disc art than the plain black R2 ones. Was only a few quid too and it didn't take long to arrive!

Little known fact:

In 1994, on the back of Die Hard and his scene stealing turn in Robin Hood, Rickman screentested for James Bond as Cubby looked to cast 'Goldeneye'.

(James Purefoy also screentested that year).
