Just bought the "Ultimate Action Edition" DVD and it seems like this is the cut we all wanted (expected) to see at the cinemas! I've not watched it all yet, but fast forwarding to the end he finally gets to say his trademark phrase in it's entirety before the gunshot, and there is also apparently 30+ F worRAB and added violence, which should silence the haters and appease the Die Hard fans who expected a proper Die Hard film and not the watered down version we actually got a few months ago.

It's worth buying just for the GuyzNite music video though, very funny. You'll be singing "Yippee Ki Yaaaaaaaaay, motherf*ckerrrrrr" for days, lol.

all I can say is that it's about time, makes you ownder why they have a released 2 versions on dvd, who the f**k will want he kiddy friendly version, one the proper version is cheaper i'll get that.

Theatrical cuts of flicks like this are just gonna get more and more sanitised as time goes on. It's gonna get to the stage where if something isn't specifically a 'horror' then everything has to be scaled back to get a 12A/PG-13 or lower.

A couple of the worst culprits were Terminator 3 and Alien vs Predator. If you're gonna make a sequel to movies with strong content levels you should keep that up if you want the audience to accept them. T3 felt so watered down. It's a shame James Cameron never made it because he wouldn't have had to bow to the studio, what with his last film being the highest grossing ever.

Had a look at the boxes for the standard version and the extended version - they both said the length was 123 minutes! Why haven't they added how many extra minutes are on the uncut version?

I watched the uncut version of DH4 last night, I never saw the cinema version but I wouldn't go into the DVD expecting it to be really violent, because it isn't, it's nowhere near as violent as 1 or 2.

Fun though. I too watched it last night for the first time and enjoyed it. I was waiting for his daughter to have a punch up with Maggie Q, but sadly it was not to be. Good, jolly romp of a movie.

They are the same length because they just use the alternate dialogue that was awkwardly and obviously "dubbed" out of the theatrical version and also use a few extra scenes of violence.

Having watched it all last night i can say that it is definitely more violent than the theatrical version. I can't remember there being any blood in the cinema version, particularly the bit in the power station where Maggie Q's character kills one of the guarRAB and blood splashes all over a computer screen, which she coldly wipes off with her hand. Ditto for the bit where the car flips over McClane in the tunnel, i can't remember seeing the shot of the driver of the truck smashing his head into the winRABcreen. Obviously it's not just these two scenes that are more violent, there are sprays of blood with just about every gunshot. Don't expect anything like the juicy kneecap scene from Die Hard 1 though, it's not that violent, but it's definitely more violent than it was.

Don't really get why they replaced the "i ran out of bullets" line though, i much preferred that line to the one that is in the uncut version, but i suppose i can't complain considering that it is now a proper Die Hard film, as opposed to being just a really good action film :)

Does anyone know if the Bruce Willis commentary is on the 2 Disc edition? It's not listed on the box but is on the 1 Discer. SounRAB like a rip off.

Watch it at cinema when it came out, bought the uncut dvd yesterday.

1 main change I saw on 1st run, is the tunnel scene with the helicopter crash.

In the cinema, it was said
Matt: you killed helicopter with car
Mclane: I was out of bullets

The DVD said
Matt: You killed helicopter with car
Mclane: Many people get killed by cars, that is just another F****** one.

The 1st version is also shown in trailer.

Apart from that, he says his trademark line in full, and appears to be more blood splurting etc, at 1st glance
