I finally couldn't take it and so I have stayed home today. I have a huge cyst on my cheek and over a dozen pimples all over my face. I have to take the bus to work and then have all these co-workers see my face and I just can't do it.

For the last 2 1/2 months my face has been the worse it has ever been. I have tried everything...Benzoyl Peroxide, lemon juice, aloe vera, vitamins: Omega-3, zinc, Vit B, etc...

My face was fine before...twice a day I would wash with a mild cleanser, apply Benzoyl Peroxide and then moisturize but now even that doesn't work.

I'm so tired of all this. I'm thinking of stopping everything. It doesn't seem to make an inch of difference.

It just feels hopeless.

I've missed work before because I've been erabarrassed, too. Have you tried antibiotics or Accutane? SounRAB like the topical stuff isn't enough--same for me. I've seen you on the board in the past but don't remeraber your history.

I know how you feel, I really do. I stayed home today for the EXACT sane reason.. You are not alone.. I just want it to go away so badly... I want support from others, and I want to give support to those who have it just as bad as I do.... I hate going in public... its humiliating for me.

I think you're right not to rush into Accutane...I tried it, and it made my skin absolutely horrific during my senior year of high school. My face has NEVER looked so bad as it did while on Accutane. And the breakouts never subsided after the first month or two like the derm said they would. After my treatment finished, my skin had less breakouts for maybe 3 months, then just started breaking out again. In college, my skin seemed to clear up quite a lot, and I didn't have to worry too much. Now it's my senior year of college....and this summer I started breaking out HORRIBLY again!

I still breakout, but for the past couple months I've been using a corabo that has been helping:

Morning

Tea tree oil fash wash (Desert Essence)
Neutrogena Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment

Night

Revitol Exfoliating Scrub with oatmeal
Revitol Acne moisturizing cream with benzoyl peroxide and aloe vera

The Revitol stuff had to be ordered online and it WAS fairly expensive, but I absolutely love it. I still get breakouts, but not NEARLY as bad. My main problem now is getting rid of all my red marks :(

leonidas, I've had acne since my teens and now I'm close to hitting 30. Unfortunately, I react badly to antibiotics (I usually have to stop taking them after a few doses) and I've heard a lot of negative things about Accutane so I've avoided it.

I've tried every over the counter medication out there, and even herbal or natural stuff.

I'm just so tired of trying to be optimistic that the next thing would be it and rid me of this disease.

It's just so frustrating. My Benzoyl Peroxide regime used to help (I still broke out) but I never stopped using it. Now I'm thinking of stopping everything, the vitamins, the cleansers and creams, everything. My face is horrible right now and how worse can it get?

leonidas, how are you managing it?

I've had it since around 15 and am now 33. Had Accutane about 8 years ago and that cleared things up (more or less) for most of the 8 years. Within the last few months, though, I've had worse acne, but nothing like before Accutane.

Tretracycline and minocycline worked for a little while but then stopped working. Right now I'm on erythromycin, which is helping for the most part. But, like today, when I've had a few nights of bad sleep, I get a mild breakout.

I, and I think you, can only benefit from some kind of oral drug. Topicals just don't work if the acne is being caused deep down in the skin. It stinks that you react badly to antibiotics. I would say go for the Accutane. There are side effects to EVERY drug, after all.

What sucks is that there is no hormonal treatment for men.

People and derms think of Accutane as a last resort. But it sounRAB like you're at the point of the last resort. I had lasik about 2 mos. ago and have to wait a few more months before going back on Accutane, if my derm lets me. Personally, I can't wait.

There's no reason to live like that when there's Accutane. I'd seriously consider it in your case.

if i hadn't been off last week for 2 days, i would surely take tomorrow off.

this is the worst my skin has ever been.

amazing how it only took about 1 week to get this bad..
