I just had my gallbladder surgery last Monday on the 6th of October 09 and today is the 11th. I haven't eaten since, and I don't feel like I want to, I also feel sad all the time. I weigh 209 Lbs and I am a 20 year old female. I just wanted to know is it normal and when will i start feeling sick? For how long can I stay without food, though, I sometimes may drink juice, is juice enough? Will I have to be admitted to a hospital? I also feel dizzy when walking, why do I feel so? what is this condition called?
Thanks,

Well, you are probably dehydrated if that's all you had to eat or drink. If you pinch up some skin on your arm, does it stay "tented" or go back down quickly? If it tents, you are dehydrated and need to call your doctor. He may want to give you some IV fluids. I would imagine though that you are going back to the surgeon tomorrow or Tuesday? But you should probably call if you can't get some fluids down pretty quick.

Are you still taking pain meds? If so, you need to get off them ASAP...they may be part of the problem.

No, I am drinking everyday, but I am not eating. I also realized that I only urinate once a day which is not normal for me.. is that ok ?
And I am not going to see my surgeon or anything.
I take Cataflam for pain, should I continue ?

I would stop the pain meds. If you have pain, try taking extra strength Tylenol instead and see if that won't take care of the pain. Your pain meds may be causing the depression.

You need to be drinking at least 64 oz. of fluid a day, and you should be going to the bathroom more than once a day.

But I think you should get back to your doctor and have him check you over because this is not normal recovery from gall bladder surgery.
