Did you think the final was a joke?

Seriously they should have just given Federer the damn trophy after Soderling's atrocious first set. I was afraid this was going to happen today and it did, Soderling played great throughout the tournament but today he played like the guy who got creamed by Nadal and Federer a month ago in Rome and Madrid. Federer would have truly deserved Roland Garros if he took out the clay king himself, just like Nadal took out the grass king at Wimbledon last year. All in all this final and this tournament was ughh.

No, not really. I'll admit Soderling didn't play up to the standard of his last three matches but Roger really brought some of his best stuff for the match that mattered most. As a HUGE Fedfan I was praying for a 4-set or possible straight set win as I for one had had enough drama from Roger for one tournament. I thoroughly enjoyed this tournament and I'm sorry you didn't...then again, no I'm not :)

The final wasn't very exciting, Soderling chickened out and yeah I kinda agree with you that Roger would deserve it more if he really beat Nadal. This year's French Open was the worst ever. But whatever.. congrats to Federer.

I guess the final itself was disappointing, but you gotta admit that some people would have complained that every year is the same if roger and Nadal would have played for the final! it was kinda shocking to know that the king of clay lost so early in the tournament! that's what made it interesting for me. but you are right, it would have been nice to see roger and Nadal battle it out again!

this whole era is a joke. period. i hope the financial crisis ruins tennis and stop it from playing. we dont need these anti-tennis people like federer stealing the slams so he can go and live with his trillions with his fat cow wife and his goony children

No, it wasn't a joke. Rafa won even more decisively last year against Roger - do you remember that score? Was a total blow-out.

Sometimes a Tennis match is one sided and ends in straight sets.

As for whether or not Roger "deserved" this win - he is the only player on the men's side to win all 7 of his matches in the two weeks of the tournament - which is why he was the one holding the trophy on Sunday! :) It's not his CHOICE who he gets to play in any round at any time. Rafa got beat, it happens. Roger knows that better than anybody because he's beaten Rafa quite a few times as well!

Hey, all of you "new" Federer haters - peddle it elsewhere, will you? - or at least take a few lessons on the game of Tennis so that you can sound like you have SOME sort of a semblance of brain activity and not sound all bitter and full of hatred by blatantly showing your obvious ignorance on the subject.

Because, frankly, you're simply boring us all to death!
