A young recruit asked the general: "Sir, why do we wear red coats?"
The general replied, "You see, when we are engaged in battle, we don't want our own troops to become discouraged should we suffer injuries. The blood blends right in."

The next day, the scout went out and returned. "Sir, there are one hundred enemies approaching!"
The general yelled to his men, "Men, put on your red coats!"

The next day the scout returned. "Sir, there are five hundred enemies approaching.
The general yelled, "Men, put on your red coats!"

The third day the scout returned. "Sir, there are ten thousand enemies approaching!"

Then general yelled, "Men, put on your brown pants....."
