Did you know Bush's Executive Order on 5/18/01 set in motion the Gulf oil spill?

The same president who issues hundreds of Executive Orders, using them in an unprecedented way to usurp congressional oversight. Bush, acting as his primary role of corporate whore, delivered the coup de grace for MMS regulators. His Executive Order required all permits to be approved or denied within 30 days. This put pressure on regulators to approve rigs quickly and with little to no actual consideration.

And yet, somehow, this disaster didn't occur during the Bush administration.

In fact, under the Bush administration, there were similar problems and Bush's MMS—that was staffed by people who actually knew something about drilling—ordered the drilling to be stopped. But under the Obama administration, which, by the way, is nrabroad
bound by any executive order issued by any previous president, chose to fill the MMS with Harvard greenies who had no idea what they were doing when they were overseeing the oil companies.

The executive order in question. I suggest people read it.

You're right...no one could have ever guessed that keeping incompetent people running something at the national level would lead to problems.
