Did this E3 sway anyone else's opinion/purchase decisions?

I don't know about the rest of you, but this E3 had a huge impact on me. Usually these things are "ooooh, look at the cool games", but this one in particular has been an eye opener.

I'm not quite sure who's announcement had a bigger impact on things, Sony or Nintendo. MS has been kind of neutral, I don't think they've gained or lost any grounds from E3.

Up until now everyone has been just kind of at Nintendo. They've just been putzing around at their own pace and letting Sony and MS have the spotlight while they got shit done in the background for the past 2 generations of systems. Everyone just kind of wrote them off as the kiddie system or the system they'll get for shits and giggles.

Now enter this year's announcement. Sony hits first with a lackluster showing of the PS3 and then the bombshell of it's price. Nintendo follows that up with a great presentation of the Wii and they actually have some games of substance to release AT the launch (ie Zelda and Mario in the very near future).

Sony was the powerhouse going into this with the largest market share and I think they've taken their fan base for granted. Most of the time when an expensive unit hits people just figure they'll save up and buy it when it comes out but I think Sony may have crossed that line of saving and turned people ON to Nintendo. The reaction to the price has been less than favorable, tons of people are saying that they wanted one before E3, now they're willing to wait for a price drop and want the Wii instead.

So, I'm wondering if this was Nintendo's brilliance here or Sony's blunder that's causing this potential shift.

I've said it in other threads here, I think Nintendo could jump out to an early lead in this console war, possibly by the following summer. The only thing is I question their ability to hang w/ the competition 3-4 years down the road when the others are more affordable and the Wii's inadequacies start to show.

lol, only voter so far...

I am going to say that I never was planning on buying a PS3, and the only way I would is if there is a shortage, and I would buy 3 to offset the cost of mine...

Anyways, Nintendo really wowed me this year. The Wii looks awsome, and with a fair arrayment of game and possibly built in WiFi (not sure on this, but i could shell out 50-100 for a wifi adaptor) it is looking very good.

I've already got a 360, which I'll be honest and say that I would have never bought one, but I won this in the Comedy Central Thanks-give-away.

I'm for sure grabbing a Wii at launch, and will have no problem standing in line for hours to get one. In addition, if I can get the money together (lol, like 2500) I might even buy 3 PS3's and sell two of them, depending on the shortage situation.

The only thing that worries me about the Wii is that I really hope that Nintendo doesn't drop a bomb on the consumer by pricing it above 250. I think people are already expecting to pay no more than 250 and any more could really cripple thier sales.

I usually wait like a year to buy any new console. That way I have a selection of games that I know are actually good without spending money to see if they are good. Plus a lot of those good games might be 19.99 greatest hits by then.

The Wii graphics look almost like N64 on some of those games. Plus the remote control is kinda scaring me.

I would never buy anything made by microsoft. So I guess I will buy a PS3 a year after it comes out. Im a po boy.

The price isn't a big factor for me. I'm already putting aside money for it, like 50 bucks a paycheck, not to mention I'll be picking up a nice flat screen hdtv around that time, for xmas or personal gift, which will good with the new system.

Sony has proven to me, and many others, that companies developing for them will deliver quality games. Nintendo obviously has an awesome system lined up. Zelda will be another linear rpg story line, though most likely it will be a great 20 hours of play, i doubt there will be much replay value. Super Smash Brawl looks...pretty amazing and will definately be a game to help sell the system. If they make another Mario 64 type of game, with TONS of replay value, that will definately help as well.

As it stands now, the new Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, Final Fantasies, and a couple other games i forgot the name of, have already solidified my ps3 purchasing choice. On top of that, i believe that Blu-ray technology will catch on in the near future, and will help sell the PS3 as well. It might not be a huge hit at first, but knowing that i'll have a Bluray player down the line, will make me that much more comfortable purchasing the system for the price.

And what they have in the works for their online play, sounds promising. Seeing as how its going its going to be ready for launch, and they're putting more emphasis on it this time around, probably because of XBox live, i think they'll have a more solid plan for it. Granted not everyone likes SOE's mmo's, they cant deny though that Sony knows how to put together an online system and support it with personel as well.

Sony's monstrous booth at E3 pushed me more into the direction of wanting a PS3 than where i was before the show.

I can't say for certain yet. I'm going to have to see in the coming months what develops with the PS3. Right now though, I actually am backing away from the PS3 a bit, leaning towards a Wii. MGS4 may be enough to keep me on board though

I will still get a PS3 as soon as possible, but with the expectations that Sony knew people had of the new system, they really seemed indifferent in their efforts to impress. They are acting like Nintendo did with their last two systems, which is with complete arrogance that their name is enough to sell it. Right now, it just may be enough.

Anyone notice the absence of KillZone? They show it a year ago, but didn't even mention it this year...at least to my knowledge they didn't.

PS3 has turned me off a bit. I have a 360 and was planning on getting a PS3 as well but I will most likely just stick with my 360. Wii doesn't intrerest me that much at all

Was kinda wanting a PS3 for the Blu-Ray aspect at first but now that those prices and that lack of anything really impressive I don't think I will worry with one until either the price drops or I get one free through a referral site. (see the yourps34free conga in Hot deals for details)

The Wii really impressed me as far as the innovation and use of the new controller go and I love the thought of being to play all those old school NES/SNES games.

I'll still get a ps3 ... not necessarily at launch because I don't care to pre-order and I want to see if there are any bugs in the first batch of systems, but I'm also not worried about waiting for a price drop.

I really don't get all the fuss about the wii ... I don't see why people are obsessed with old games ... I think it's nostalgia more than anything ... any time I sit in front of an old NES rom I get bored after about 30 seconds ... And all the titles so far that really utilized the functions of the nunchuck don't interest me ... I don't see how they're really adding anything amazing to the gameplay experience ... and that fps game looks like absolute shit Maybe that's just me though

I wanted a PS3 till I saw the price. Now I think I can wait.

I'll definitely be getting a Wii. I've had no desire to get a 360 because I despise the fact I'll bring it home, plug it in and immediately be asked to "update" my console's software.

All the fanboys can say "UUUhhhhgh, but it improves the games and you can get more content." I don't care. I've seen it used to patch bugs & problems that never should've gotten through in the first place.

Yes.

I used to be a huge Sony fanboy but since I got an Xbox 360 I have softened. I still love the PS1 and the PS2 (even the PSP I like, I just wish there were some good games for it - I gave mine to my brother but I'd gladly buy another one if some games popped up).

Before E3, I was kind of thinking that the PS3 probably would have to be a lot better than the 360 for me to buy it and that maybe I should get a Wii. After E3, I know that I will not be getting a PS3 (I really hate Sony's arrogance even more than the high price) but I will probably get the Wii.

even with the bluray player i still cant justify buying a ps3. ill wait i guess just like everyone else. and when im done waiting, the 360 will be pennies compared to now and ill just have to go and pick that up.

by the way, i know they are saying the wii will be around 250 but i was talking to a gamestop guy and he said the district manager called and told them that when preorders come through to sell for 250, but he was telling them that nintendo might go for a 199.99 price. and since that 50 is store credit only, they can use it to buy a game.
then i called my nephew who works at a gamestop and he said he had heard the same thing.

i have sort of been planning on buying the wii for a long time, and its not really because of e3. after seeing the direction nintendo went with the ds...i really like what i have seen when it comes to actual gameplay and innovation. gaming has lost its "fun factor" for me recently, and fancy graphics just arent enough to keep me interested in the same games being reproduced with new names and characters

plus, my son is a huge metroid fan and its fun to play the games with him.
