Did the U.S. Military ever buy 1911 .45's from the Rock Island Armory which are

made in the Philiipines? I was under the impression that the 1911 .45 which was the standard Government issue until relatively recently all were manufacatured in the U.S.? My dad recently bought a RIA .45 at an estate sale and the seller said her father carried the weapon in combat in Korea. It doesn't look old enough to have been used in Korea. I cannot find any definitive answers on the web. He only paid $150.00 for the weapon which seems like a real good price.
