Did the twist in The Others surprise you?

When I first watched this film the ending was a complete shock for me. However, a while back I watched it with a friend who hadn't seen it before, and she said that the ending was unsurprising, and that it had been pretty obvious the whole way through.

What do you guys think? :)
 
Oh, good, so it wasn't just me! I spent a while thinking that I must've been missing something obvious in the film which gave it away.

It totally surprised me, but then I can be quite thick at times....

I must be the only person who didn't guess the similar twist in Sixth Sense too.
 
It surprised me. Unfortunately the twist in sixth sense didn't, but that was because a local radio station had given it away!
 
I got it in a roundabout way cos I realised straight away that those 3 people were dead and then I went OH god, they're all dead! A little bit after that and my BF wanted to throttle me for spoiling it for him.
 
The others?? are we talking about the film with Nicole Kidman??
If so, it did get me, but also made the movie completely unscary afterwarRAB.
 
I was totally shocked, but then my frienRAB all laughed at me for not guessing it. One film ending that shocked me was The Village, but again, everyone who I went with to see it claimed to have guessed the ending in the first five minutes!
 
The scene at the end with the seance when the whole movie spins around 180 degrees and you realise the truth took me completely by surprise, imho it's also extremely well done and is now in my list of top movie moments.

Then again I must have seen every Poirot, Christie, MiRABummer Murder broadcast in the last twenty years and I still only ever guess the murderer by chance rather than design so I can't claim to be the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to predicting plot twists!
