Did the news story about ScT hit the news yet ??

Fixed. It was a huge farce, if you ask me. Some honest users did get in around the places they asked for, though. I can't believe you didn't enjoy ScT, what did you find wrong with it? Honest question, not getting on your nerves. I honestly couldn't find a fault with it, at all.

I'm not really sure why, I just never used it...

Anyways, ScT was the god of the 'net. There was so much hype and talk about it. ScT was always behind FTN in the "most wanted" list. If ScT was even "l33ter," then more people would want to join in on the fun. The sad thing was that it died, but we're all sure that it happened for a reason. Nobody knows yet, other than ScT staff members.

In the end, it wasn't filled with level seekers / invite sellers / traders at all. The user total for accounts ever made was in and around the 50,000 mark after 4 and a half years and with the site at full capacity (20,000), that is about 30 accounts a day were made. With SCC currently at 145,000 accounts mark and been up 3 and a half years, this equals to about 113 accounts a day being made. If the site was filled with these people you say, it would of been the same as SCC or higher. The last 2 days since we announced the closure we allowed other site staff to offer invites on our forums, which again isn't anything like unsavoury. ScT didn't sell anything, it gave back to the users rewards for donating.

Get your facts straight.

Bull!

As far as I know various ScT/UK-T staff members are being prosecuted, plus the way I (we all) know feeling is he would never bring himself to work with another tracker's staff.

Those numbers could just as easily be interpreted as showing that SCC is just more vigilant in catching and banning bad users.

I don't want to seem like I'm a SCC fanboy or anything (I'm not a fan of scene stuff). I'll admit that ScT did a lot more for BT than SCC ever could and it was a better site. However, it still remains that ScT shut down under shady circumstances with nothing in the news about any kind of charges, as you had previously implied there would be.

Lol, my point exactly. It doesn't really matter where the money went as a lot of users were more than happy to buy their way in. Fucking hilarious.

SCC is a good tracker, i have nothing against SCC but ScT was a pro tracker, high standard releases and very user friendly interface and easy to use.
And, Sct had high standard releases?? I don't know what ScT you were using, but I only saw scene releases, which SCC and a million other sites have. ScT was easier to use than SCC? I really don't get that one.

I don't know about anybody else, but the way I see it, SCC gained a lot of ScT's users, including uploaders. Combining the two dedicated communities only served to make SCC better than ScT could have been. However, I'm kinda sad to see that SCC did go the route of ScT in making invites available to only donors.

Haha. Who wouldn't want to join a site whose membership boasts 30%+ uploaders, ratio-free, the best pre-times, p2p content, and perfectly ripped FLACs. Lol. It's like ScT/FTN/FSC/E all rolled into one. The Best Tracker Ever.

That would be me maybe raising my hand.
None of those things would mean much if the place( if it existed) were to be run by and filled with a bunch of jerks.

Aye!whattup fee, word was you got mauled at some chinese zoo, herd twas a bear, you tried feeding it from the wrong end I herd.
Also herd u was in rehab and they made 'FREE FEE! t's too,l337 shit u done.Herd you traded the yacht for axx to untouched taliban cocaine too.Army found out and kicked you out implying don't ask don't tell as the reason.
But all in all you are still here.

yeah it was dead b4 i started as well but this isnt even the first thread i've seen basically dedicated to ScT... must have been something amazing!

O and i figure ill just throw my 2 cents in here but honestly its not that bad to skim a little off the top if you are running a torrent site... its like if ppl are using your house to sell drugs... you know with that amt of traffic theres going to be heat on you and if you get caught you are going down not every1 who chills in the house so why shouldnt you at least benefit from it a little
from the way ppl talk the staff and owner still did their job and made it one of if not the best tracker on the net so its not as if they were just half assing and leeching money from unsuspecting users. Apparently they did their jobs quite well and so they should be rewarded especially in a buisness as risky as theirs...
and that point just takes into account their involvement in a tracker much less one of the most popular and possibly best trackers available which is obviously going to bring more scrutiny and heat from the authority figures...

maybe its time those who are bitter just move on and assume the best

if one of your good friends died, someone who would give their ass for you even if it risked their own, just suddenly passed away would you want to defile his memory after he is gone. No you wouldnt even if you knew everything wrong he did and what he said and did to ppl, that were mourning him and talking about how amazing he was , behind their back you would still just keep your mouth shut and appreciate what he did for you and let him pass in peace. Once they are gone there is no reason to continue to try and defile the memory of something great especially if you were one of the many who enjoyed its presence in life. is there? so taking this into account if you were the staff and knew something whether bad or good about the downfall of the site or your friend would you expose that to the world when honestly it makes no difference either way because it/they are gone no matter what you say... So why should you the friends and users of it mock it after its passing...

@merwais, Wizzcameron, QPD, ringhunter, etc i think you guys have the right idea... appreciate it for what it was. There will never be anything exactly the same but it was good while it lasted.
For the rest if you were insulting directly or bashing the staff for "buying cars" etc with donation money this isnt directed at you and for those of you who did its just my opinion and i dont mean to offend anyone so please dont be

well good points you've put but am afraid the only thing I'll agree with you on is your suggestion that IMDB should start indexing porn titles as well.Otherwise if you were paying attention, you would notice that feeling aint dead.He posted right above you so relax and wish him well.He is even using facts and straight in the same sentence so he's become better.

ScT is gone accept it and move on :)

There are a number of different reasons why people enjoyed ScT. The true users are those who were there from the beginning.

Lets forget SCC forget FTN and go back to the early days of ScT.

Do you remember the Prank Calls we did at ScT?
The original wallpaper competitions?

Lets think back to 2006... Do you know what it cost to own a Gbit Pipe?
-> This was before OVH had even broken into the market. Dedibox.fr was just opening for business and Softlayer in the US was leading the way.

When 2007 Rolled arround the price for a Dual Xeon Server with a 1000/1000mbit connection was 329.00USD per month with 2TB of traffic. Aditional traffic was 100.00USD per TB.

How many of you knew that at this time there were several dedicated uploaders using these boxes and paying for them out of their own pocket?

Lets not forget there was no auto scripts back then either. The releases would auto race to the .US box and each torrent would then have to be uploaded... Thinking back now to when Stargate was airing it would take about 1-2m to FXP it over to the box then another 2 minutes to manually upload it and begin seeding.. 5m Pre times were at the time FAST and often met with pages and pages of comments and thank you's.

Now think about the packs back in 2007 if you were a member at ScT back then. ScT was the FIRST site to start making dedicated movie packs. The first site to upload the IMDB Top 100.

I believe it was also back in 2007 by memory when ScT did the hugly memorable FreeLeech on it's birthday. The IRC channel was packed with people eagerly awaiting the clock to hit 0.00 GMT (This was not the year were if IRC reached 2k users it would be FL... Was 1 or 2 before). There was weeks and hours of planning not to mention huge amounts of money put in by the uploaders alone to purchase a number of boxes and load them up. Going again by memory there was close to 100 packs compiled. The minute the clock hit 0.00 GMT the uploders spammed ScT the IRC was flooded with mutiple ***.Pack-ScT torrents and the channel went wild :)

Those are the memorys from the earliy days of ScT and why the older members are so loyal that is something none of the new sites don't have and will Never have. The torrent community has changed over the last few years and with it the top uploaders in the world have since moved on...

There are many stories and little things most people never knew about ScT. From the proposed merger with ChronicTracker (ScTorrents.Org... And yes the Skin and site actually existed... It looked like the final version of ScT Before closure but with the logo's merged and green perl in the backroudn colour) to everything that went on in the back end and the site attacks in the early days.

Last but not least. A replacement of ScT was developed, The userbase is on hand, Stats are on hand, All of the ScT related memorbilia and Forums are on hand even a new concept that would be the biggest thing since the launch of scene based torrent trackers in 2004. The problem is not only time but the money required to get the site online which would be #1 from the get go. It was decided in a final meeting between remaining Uploaders, Ex ET/ScT staff and some loyal members to leave everything be and let the memorys fade away.

emperorIX, ScT packs :D

ScT packs were great and ScT wasn't missing any scene release!
I am a member of SCC also, SCC is missing lots of scene releases, specially in games/xxx sections and some other sections.

SCC is mainly based on Movies/TV releases, they should look after other categories also. Specially Games. Wii/XBOX/PC games etc...

overall, SCC: 9.3/10.

None of those things would mean much if the place( if it existed) were to be run by and filled with a bunch of jerks.

At the risk of sounding like a total moron, does it actually matter what personality the people running the place entertain? I know that having a good staff lineup usually enhances the whole experience. There's multiple trackers where I can joke with staff members or even insult the tracker (or a problem with it) to their face, and they don't even get angry, more like have a discussion about it.

However, there are other dictatorial places, where I just avoid the staff (come to think of it, I haven't been in swarms there for over a year, but I still lurk the forums). What I'm trying to point out is, good staff help the website grow, but bad staff wouldn't affect a thing, you can just avoid them, no?

Yeah, you've got me there, lol. SCC sucks balls for games and porn. But, since the demise of ScT, SCC has gained a lot. Especially in the packs department. I don't mean to say that ScT sucked or anything, but it did shut down under some very shady conditions. They took the money and ran. If I had donated, I'd be pissed and would definitely not sing their praises anywhere. I'm glad they're gone if that's all the site was really about, ie profit.

A point I tried to make was that it wasn't the site that made ScT great, but the users, many of whom are now at SCC.

This could be good news :D:D

I can't believe I say this, but apart from the not knowing and wanting to donate several hundreds to revive, I wholeheartedly agree with merwais. It was the best and fastest (in all aspects) scene tracker ever.
