yeah it was dead b4 i started as well but this isnt even the first thread i've seen basically dedicated to ScT... must have been something amazing!
O and i figure ill just throw my 2 cents in here but honestly its not that bad to skim a little off the top if you are running a torrent site... its like if ppl are using your house to sell drugs... you know with that amt of traffic theres going to be heat on you and if you get caught you are going down not every1 who chills in the house so why shouldnt you at least benefit from it a little
from the way ppl talk the staff and owner still did their job and made it one of if not the best tracker on the net so its not as if they were just half assing and leeching money from unsuspecting users. Apparently they did their jobs quite well and so they should be rewarded especially in a buisness as risky as theirs...
and that point just takes into account their involvement in a tracker much less one of the most popular and possibly best trackers available which is obviously going to bring more scrutiny and heat from the authority figures...
maybe its time those who are bitter just move on and assume the best
if one of your good friends died, someone who would give their ass for you even if it risked their own, just suddenly passed away would you want to defile his memory after he is gone. No you wouldnt even if you knew everything wrong he did and what he said and did to ppl, that were mourning him and talking about how amazing he was , behind their back you would still just keep your mouth shut and appreciate what he did for you and let him pass in peace. Once they are gone there is no reason to continue to try and defile the memory of something great especially if you were one of the many who enjoyed its presence in life. is there? so taking this into account if you were the staff and knew something whether bad or good about the downfall of the site or your friend would you expose that to the world when honestly it makes no difference either way because it/they are gone no matter what you say... So why should you the friends and users of it mock it after its passing...
@merwais, Wizzcameron, QPD, ringhunter, etc i think you guys have the right idea... appreciate it for what it was. There will never be anything exactly the same but it was good while it lasted.
For the rest if you were insulting directly or bashing the staff for "buying cars" etc with donation money this isnt directed at you and for those of you who did its just my opinion and i dont mean to offend anyone so please dont be

lol, that seems obvious.
ScT stands as a great example of why one should not donate, unless of course you don't mind supporting a site that profits from the efforts of others/the scene. ST is another such example.
Then again, most people donating to ScT were simply doing so for their own benefit, ie buying invites. So, I guess it doesn't really matter where the money went.

Yet, even when I had an ScT account I never used it, so much in fact that when they closed I missed everyone trading inviites to whatever site they wanted basically.
Fixed. It was a huge farce, if you ask me. Some honest users did get in around the places they asked for, though. I can't believe you didn't enjoy ScT, what did you find wrong with it? Honest question, not getting on your nerves. I honestly couldn't find a fault with it, at all.
Haha. Who wouldn't want to join a site whose membership boasts 30%+ uploaders, ratio-free, the best pre-times, p2p content, and perfectly ripped FLACs. Lol. It's like ScT/FTN/FSC/E all rolled into one. The Best Tracker Ever.

Everyone thinks SCC replaced ScT but they are wrong.
SCC is a good tracker, i have nothing against SCC but ScT was a pro tracker, high standard releases and very user friendly interface and easy to use.
If ScT comes back, i will gladly donate 100-150$ to join ScT again.

If you look at it as a business...and work on a certain tracker for like 10h/day I don;t see the reason not to get paid for it.Besides this,Internet is all about money.If you donate you are a little part of that income.It;s your choice.

Very well put and I agree that ScT innovated a lot of what are now common practices in BT. ScT does deserve respect. However, I still feel that ScT did lose it's way at one point and changed for the worst, along with the rest of the BT community.
A perfect example of this is merwais' comment:
