Did the character "Dom" from NCIS: LA really die in season ones' episode titled "found"?

I'm wondering if the the character "Dom" really did die in season one of NCIS Los Angeles? If so, why is their a guy (not Sam) that looks so similar to him in season two. Can someone please answer this, since its really puzzling. If you can, can you provide a link or any info on where you found the answer.
