There are over 40 writers of the 66 books of the Holy Bible. One of the ways we can be certain that these books are the inerrant Word of God is that these writers, over a period of 4500 years, years and generations apart, have developed a message that is constant. and consistent
All the stories, all the books, the Biblical message in its entirety lead us to the following conclusion...
Man has been living in sin since Adam and Eve.
The wages of sin is death as God does not judge one sin to be worse than another. Because God is perfect, He cannot abide imperfection, therefore He must destroy it.
Therefore all men are in need ot a savior. From Genesis throughout the Old Testament God promises a savior and salvation to those who trust His promise.
The New Testament reveals God's promise fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ.
Many of the books were written by the people who lived the stories. The first five books, called the Pentateuch, were attribued to Moses. Joshua wrote about his time as leader/prophet to Israel, Judges was most certainly written by one of the judges...etc. David is the author of most of the psalms, most certainly a contributor to the books of Samuel. The prophets' chronology probably by the prophets themselves or their assistants. Solomon wrote most of the proverbs,lLamentations, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Solomon.
The gospels written by the men whose names they bear. Luke also wrote the book of acts. The apostle Paul, converted after Christ's assention, wrote 14 epistles or letters. John of the gosple also wrote the three letters bearing his name and the book of Revelation. Peter wrote two letters as well.
There is no way, generationally, they were all in collusion to 'get the story straight.'.
The coincidences occurring throughout the Bible coincide because thats the way it really happened, and it really happened according to God's plan. And God is beyond time and space.
Historical documents from the time periods exist, and they do not contradict the validity of the Bible. If anything, they support it.
This is how we know the julian calandar does not accurately record the year Jesus was born...according to Luke, Augustus ruled in Rome when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. Traditionally the first year of the A.D. period was year zero, the year Christ was assumed to be born.
Year Zero...Augustus ruled in Rome, but Cyrenius was not governor of Syria. He was not appointed to that position until A.D. 3 or 4. So we know the calander is off by at least 4 years or more.
This is only one example of history proving the inerrancy of the scriptures. There are many, many more. Historical record once thought to be contradictory to the Biblical record have on many occasions revealed that the errors were always on the side that wrote the secular history, never on the side that wrote the Biblical record.
There are so many resources out there, especially on the web, that provide evidence to the historical accuracy of the bible. Look some of them up on yahoo or google. Ask.com is a good source as well.
