thank you everyone for helping me

union hence he made the emacipation proclomation which freed slaves. jefferson davis was the president of the confederacy

Lincoln was the President of The United States of America. The south left the union because Lincoln wanted to free the slaves.

Abraham Lincoln was part of the Union during the civil war. He signed the Emancipation Proclamation to free slaves all over the country. He was assassinated by John Booth, 6 days after the Confederacy surrendered to the Union, ending the Civil War.

Union and yea they did good things. the south wanted to keep slaves. lincoln would not have of it.

Lincoln was not specifically part of the Union. He was president of the United States. Jefferson Davis was president of the Confederacy of states wanting to secede from the United States. That was the main reason for the Civil war. Slavery was but one of many reasons for the war. And yes, I'd say trying to keep the country together was a good thing.

Union of course. The south was the side that was doing bad things, owning human beings as slaves. However, racism was widespread across the nation. For example some people in the north were racist and some people in the south were not racist. I was told that one of my ancestors (at least one, I don't know of all of them) that was alive during that time lived in the south, but was against slavery.
