did jews have a home before israel was formed?

Some truth, but it's more an ideological issue. For whatever reason the Christian majority believes in the whole Zionist movement.

Well I guess that is fear of losing votes, but not jewish votes

The Jewish population that now inhabits Israel was given their land by an imperialist power (Britian), it is easily argued that this was not a lawful transaction as the land did not belong to Britain in the first place. It was Europe's way of shipping out the Jewish population in order to avoid more war, in other words, dumping Europe's problem onto the Arab world. This was a time when true anti-Semitism was abundant on both sides, not only in Europe, but in America as well.

thanks, there's a lot of really great books to read on the subject. Amos Oz is an amazing zionist author that really explains the nuts and bults of herzl's vision.

christains have the vatican city... which is a nation. plus they had all of europe, and america.

muslims have their countries in asia and africa

jews have 1 small sliver of a country... and suddenly its a huge crime you gotta be joking

i didnt call it a colony, sorry if you misunderstood.

i said clearly it was under british mandate and i used the examples of america, hong kong and india to illustrate the fact that a country can have control over another country regardless of whether they are on the same continent. YES i oversimplified, but that doesn't mean i gave false information.

like i said, jews have always been in israel, but never officially.
once the state was given to them, the arabs got indignant because they wanted their piece of the land as well, so they started a war which they lost. not only did they lose, but they lost so much land that they would have been better off not fighting in the first place.

and then there was the war in 1967, and again they lost more land. now the big debate is about whether or not israel should go back to pre-1967 borders. for many many many years they haven't, but recently they've started disengaging from gaza and the west bank, etc.

and just as israel starts disengaging and going pre-1967, all hell breaks loose.

The land was part of several empires for around 2000 years. During which the Jews gradually became scattered about the earth, but mostly in America, central and eastern Europe, and the USSR.

Before that the area was ruled by groups of warring Jewish tribes that sometimes united under several kings, but not really.. if that makes any sense.

Its entirely different situations I didnt say you gave false information...Stop being so defensive..

Although you did give false info earlier Israel was in no way given to the jews as reperations by the british...the british believed in Israel long before WW2.
