did jews have a home before israel was formed?

Its like, when you take a dump, you dont do it all over your house. You do it in the toilet, so you dont have to step on turds all around the house.

The jews are the turds, and Britain thought it would be a good idea to restrict them to the toilet known as Israel. Of course, the Arabs have to live with the stench, but meh, who gives a damn shit (real shit this time, not shit as in jews) about them ?

Yeah, "their" land was "given" back to them since they had a state there before. Problem is the diaspora was 1800 years ago. This is really a poor argument for giving Israel to the Jews. It wouldn't make sense to give land to groups based on who was living there 1800 years in the past.

Britain only gave them back the land that had originally been theirs to begin with. If my bible history serves me right. They had already settled that land Beginning when God gave it to Abraham and his descendants. then In the story of Joseph being sold into slavery in Egypt his 11 brothers eventually came to Egypt during a time of famine. Since Joseph was second to the pharaoh by then long story short he told them all to move to Egypt but told his children and future generations when they returned to The Land God Promised (Israel) to take his body back.... Flash Forward to the Story of Moses and He led them from Egypt back to Israel. Now Flash Forward hundreds of years to the time of Jesus Jews were still living in the area of Israel. Then Rome destroyed Israel around 70 A.D. and burned Jerusalem and by around 130-135 A.D. Hadrian Had scattered most of the Jews throughout the empire. Where they remained without a homeland until the reformation of Israel.

wow this post makes you seem intelligent.

this is what happend. a loooooooooong time ago, the region was called canan. the jewish tribes took over. there was lots of fighting, but it became their home. they built a big temple and people were (mostly) happy. then the babylonians came and took over. this started what was known as the diaspora, which means what it sounds like... the jews were scattered, after being banished by the babylonians. i dont remember exactly what happend next, but they did eventually rebuild stuff and lived happily for a bit... then the romans came and did the same. after that, most jews just left... the prosecution by the romans just worse and worse as time went on. the roman empire collapsed onto itself, and i think the arabs took over.

this is from memory so i may be wrong in some points.

something that bothers me is how people (especially when americans) bitch about the jews stealing arab land... are you forgetting about all the natives who lives in the americas before becoming colonized by european nations?

To answer the origional question there were a lot of Jews in Europe, but many left for the Sassanian Empire due to heavy religious persecution. Iraq was a huge center for Jews and all over the Middle East as well. As was already mentioned Africa too had a significant Jewish population. When considering where to establish a Jewish state Iraq and parts of Germany came up.

First, you have to look at the group of people who control Mecca. Saudi Arabia is run by Hanbali Islamic thought, one of the most conservative schools of thought in Islam and is followed by about 3-5% of all Muslims. Wahhabists are very conservative, so perhaps if there was a holy place there to catholics they would not be allowed to access it. But the same is not true for most countries with high Muslim populations. Early Islam was much more tolerant of other religions than Christian Europe was at the time.

it was owned by the british
the population that lives in israel now is essentially the same that lived there before, and in fact the british drew up the lines of what was palestine and what was israeli based solely on demographics (where are there a lot of arabs, where are there a lot of jews).
