Did it ever occur to you Obama-haters that perhaps you should complain about

the reasons for which...? ...the Peace Prize is given, rather than for Obama receiving it?

The award isn't just for specific achievement, but sometimes to give momentum to a cause, as Obama said today. There are numerous examples of this throughout history.
Vernon: Anytime someone reports me, I'll repost from a different account. That way more people see it than would have otherwise. Reporters never win.

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Did it ever occur to you that no matter what comes out of Obummer's mouth, it's a lie? Sheeple like you are so blind to what is really going on in this country. All those who wanted to be politically correct and vote a black man into office just so that you could say, "See, I'm not a racist". Never mind that the man had no experience, never mind that he attended a racist church for years, but threw the minister under the bus when it didn't work to his advantage, never mind that he and his wife are two of the biggest racists out there.
They say be careful what you wish for. All of you that voted for this idiot will have no one to blame but yourselves when it all comes crashing down around you.
(and btw, we're so impressed that you're so intelligent that you can repost from another account. Did you think that one up all by yourself?)

I could think of at least 5 important men and women *worthy* of the Nobel Peace Prize, knowing one of them personally. I do not hate Obama, but what did he do, for example, for the mideast peace process, in particular with Israel and Palestine? He first demanded a stop to illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and when Netanyahu whined, 'but it's difficult,' Obama backed down, and has thus lost the respect of many Palestinian people. Then in a speech at the UN assembly in NY, he eloquently spoke to please those who were listening, trying to appease as many groups as he could, and what has he DONE to show for it? Nothing really. Troops are still in Iraq, Afghanistan, the American Empire is still spreading our resources too thin...

Maybe those 5 or so people in Norway who chose Obama for the award were trying to harness the powers of 'The Secret' by 'thinking Obama's peace-making actions and accomplishments into being' by giving him the award before he's even done those things...that would make no sense if you haven't read 'The Secret'...

Anyways, I believe Obama has potential, but seriously??

Today is the greatest day of his Presidency and a great day for America.

It has been a very very long time since the American Presidency was celebrated like today.

All that stuff desn't matter : Obama won the Peace Prize, that's the fact whether they like it or not.

Its' very political and generally given out for the best intentions and not their actual implimentation. I basically support Obama but you won't find any clear reasoning here, of all places.

If that is true as you state it, Reagan's reductions of nuclear weapons would have won him the prize, same for Clinton's attempt to help Israel gain peace with the Muslims.

IT is nothing but a leftist organization which only awards hardcore leftists.

Just by the simple fact that you are a Buckeyes fan (0-2 in champ games 0-6 in games were teams are ranked 5 or above) shows that you follow losers and are in fact yourself one. Take your naivety somewhere else.

Oh really? Then why did Gandhi never win the Peace Prize? He was nominated several times and never won...and he actually DID something to deserve the prize....

Girl- kudos to you for putting this out there... but the haters will have this reported and deleted in no time at all. The sour grapes are just too sour for them...

Albert the Capitalist: Reagan's reductions in nuclear weapons? HUH? Actual U.S. nuclear weapon stockpiles declined VERY minimally under the Reagan administration. Sure, he got rid of a lot of 50's and 60's technology, but he replaced it three-fold with newer systems like the Minuteman. The guy even had a plan for weaponizing space!

And in the years of Reagan's presidency, actual numbers of nuclear weapons declined by 857 missiles, or by a mere 3%. This means we still had 22,174 weaponable warheads in our arsenals by the time he left office.
