Did I say the wrong thing while my friend and her mom were arguing?

ok.. my best friends mom picked us up from school and on our way home her mom started saying my best friend (kate) didnt appreciate her and the things she does.. and how kate tell her she hates her.. then kate said well u tell me u hate me and her mom acted like that didnt matter.. and anyway we pulled in to my drive way and my friend was crying hysterically and i couldnt do anything bcuz her mom would get madder.. so i just opened the door, said bye, and walked to my door... wasnt that dumb to say bye????
 
that was very dumb i would of calmed my friend down and talk about it with her and make her talk to her mom once she knows it can be hard on her too. im sure her mom loves her thats what i would do, some people would not throw there 2 cents in or (but in).
 
I don't think you did anything wrong. I actually think it rude of the mum (who should know better) to fight and argue in front you. You were put in a really awkward position and I think you handled it really well. I would call or text your friend and make sure shes ok, I would say shes a little embarrassed and hurt!
 
you actually did the right thing. never get into sn argument that doesn't have to deal with you. saying "bye' was perfect and didn't make it out like they have big problems or something
