I am a SAHM and today i was watching my friend's two kids, 7 and 2. The 7 year old is extremely picky and lacks manners, and i'm to the point where i don't want to go over to my friend's house anymore because i'm afraid my daughter will pick up bad habits. So at her house she refuses to eat, and will just dump her food on the floor and then want something else! If she doesn't eat her mom will tell her she doesn't get a snack but she'll pout and cry until her mom gives in. Last night we were over for dinner and she ate one bite of her meal and threw the rest in the garbage, then pouted until she got THREE chocolate covered donuts!! She lives on mac n cheese and anything sweet.
My daughter is only 21 months but i've always been taught that if you don't eat your meal, then you don't get sweets. That's just the way it is. So i made some cheesy noodle bag meal with chicken, bbroccoli carrots and corn mixed in. I thought that was kinda close to mac n cheese. She refused to even try it. I didn't even give her vveggiesbecause she didn't want them and i'm not her mom, so i wasn't going to force. So then she's talking about "i want some mac n cheese" and whining. And i told her it's just like mac n cheese and to try it...again she refused. So now it's been an HOUR and she's pouting wanting fruit snack and ice cream. I kinda have to laugh lol. I told her she could have treats after she ate but she's not budging. I'd probably make the girl some mac n cheese but i don't even have any!
I am doing the right thing? How would you handle this? I don't watching any other older kids except my niece and she does not do this!
wow ignore the spelling errors, the spell check actually did that!
