in March 1945? I am doing research on the intense battles in the northern sector of the Eastern Front in the last months of the second world war. The siege of Army Group North in the Kurland Pocket is of particular interest. However after the sixth and final Soviet attempt to overrun Army Group North in late March, it seems that most of these units were transferred to the Berlin sector for the final assault on the city. However the garrison in Kurland was left undefeated. Because of the transfer of many of the besieging Soviet units, was this sector entirely quiet? I would have the impression that small skirmishes would have taken place, but I am not certain. If anyone has any information on combat operations, including counter-attacks or Soviet "probing" attacks in Kurland between late March and May 7th 1945, it would be appreciated. In addition, I am also interested in a particular unit, the German 912 Sturmartillerie Brigade. I have found little information on this unit, but according to my findings, they were known as the "sharpshooters" and contributed greatly to the german defense of Kurland. Information on this unit as well would be great Thanks
