I read a great interview with the real guy Kevin Costner played in JFK. He said Kennedy had to agree to stop invading Cuba in order to get the Russians to take their nukes out - that pissed off the CIA division that were training Cuban expats to invade Cuba and/or kill Castro.
They used lone nut Oswald to get to the President.
Then after the killing, the larger CIA found out about it, offed both of the guys who planned it, got Ruby to kill Oswald, and have been playing innocent ever since.
And they also managed to get Sirhan Sirhan to keep his mouth shut for 40 years. He probably decided that was prudent after seeing what happened to Oswald.
