OK, this is coming from a guy who lives just 32 miles from the center of Detroit.
We should let all three auto makers go bankrupt and then outright buy them for the same price as we're bailing them out.
Then we can put them to work with a 10 billion dollar per year grant to develop zero oil technologies. Meanwhile, they can keep building cars that we will dump on foreign nations below cost - why? Because that's how they destroyed our manufacturing base, turnabout is fair play.
When we have leveled the playing field a bit and a car that does not need foreign oil. Then we can make ALL our cars that way.
Between that and a half trillion dollar energy infrastructure program to eliminate foreign oil consumption - those mideastern terrorists can kiss their bloody funding goodbye.

LOL! When the Republicans BLOCKED these damn bailouts, they were called "obstructionists." When they finally caved and signed off on them, they were blamed for it, then, and now in a couple of answers here. It never ceases to amaze me.

Congress did not loan but gave GM the money and I am still laid off because of GM.
