Did anyone ever hear of this happening--seems weird?

A friend of mine said that his wife went one month past her due date. Did any of you hear of this ever happening.... what dr. would let a woman go 4 weeks past her due date. That just seems dangerous and I'm not sure if I believe it or not.

She would only go 1 month Over if her dates were wrong and Instead of 40 weeks she was like 36 or something because NO Doctor would let her go Over week 41
