Was Inspector Gadget DIC's first cartoon or what?

No, actually. Ulysses 31 and Mysterious Cities of Gold (both japanese co-productions) both outdate Inspector Gadget by a couple years or so. Though, outside of that, in all honesty, I'm not sure what was their first cartoon...

EDIT: Checking the French wiki, it seems a cartoon called "Archibald le magicien" was their first cartoon. I'll investigate more on this later...

I could never quite figure that out myself. (I could've done more research.....)
According to The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoons, their first syndicated show was Inspector Gadget.
That doesn't matter much, but it was their claim to fame.

I don't know the exact chronology, but the first DIC cartoon I remember seeing was Inspector Gadget. Next I saw The Littles, and when I first saw the ending titles of that, I said, "Hey, that's the same studio that produced Inspector Gadget!"

I think Inspector Gadget was the first DiC show to air in the U.S., and the first DiC show to be made in english.
