Diary of the Dead

My local picture house have it coming soon , looking forward to it , love Romeros films ...
To be honest I love crappy zombie films too like The Return of the Living Dead films lol

It's out in "limited release" here in the U.S..

Sadly it's not playing in any theaters where I live so I'm forced to wait until it comes out on DVD.

Usually "small, independent films" or "foreign films" get a limited release here to test the reaction. If the response is positive, it gets a wider release.

I'm completely baffled as to why this movie is getting very little support (for now). The film has been out for a week already, yet I haven't seen any TV advertisements for it!

George Romero has some rabid fans (myself included!) but I'm afraid they're not as numerous as they once were. His last movie "Land of the Dead" bombed big time. I liked it though. :D

an we lovthe it

It gets a nationwide UK release on Friday 7th March and I can heartily recommend it. After the so-so Land of the Dead this is a true return to form for Mr. Romero. Don't miss it!

I saw it at a FrightFest all nighter at the ICA last November and it was introduced by the man himself. He did a Q&A after the screening and patiently signed autographs for his fans.

Take that back :D

The first two ROTLD movies were and still are excellent, nice 80's vibe to them too.

However ROTLD three four and five are poor excuses for movies. Part three is better than four and five, but still that movie is dung as well so it shows how bad four and five are if it is better than them, but still crap. The idiots making the movies forget what made the first two great, otherwise three four and five would be just as good.

I loved ROTLD 1 & 3. The first film was a blast to watch. It had the right amount of horror and humor. The 3rd one surprised me because they ditched the humor and took itself a little serious. To my surprise it worked (for me at least). It's a great zombie flick.

I can't recommend ROTLD 2 though. It had some pretty good moments but they went extremely overboard with the humor which turned me off. The fourth & fifth films were just plain awful. AWFUL! Burn the prints! lol. :D

I saw it in New York two weekenRAB ago when it was released (to two cinemas in Manhattan).

I really liked it and wanted to watch it again as soon as it was finished.

The style is completely different to Romero's other zombie movies (as you're no doubt aware) and it does leave you wanting to see more but he does a good job of explaining multiple camera angles (CCTV footage, internet downloaRAB) to ensure that it is visually more interesting and more like a real movie than other camcorder movies.

The social commentary is a bit overboard too and the English professor is a little OTT as a character but all in all when somebody moved in the darkened theatre I jumped so the movie did its job.

Richard.

Just like 'Blair Witch' looked like tame version of an old zombie movie ('Cannibal Holocaust').
Hey look, back to zombie films again, we've come full circle in just three posts.:D
