Diarrhea 3 days in a row mostly in the morning

What would cause a person to have diarrhea for three days, the majority of the symptom each day in the morning? No fever, no cramps, nor any other symptoms. Feeling fine the rest of the day, then the problem occurs upon waking or within being awake for an hour. Then again the person feels fine, then again the next MORNING, problem occurs.

Nothing changed in the diet and it has now resolved after three days.

To me, it sounds like they ate something bad, but why were the symptoms mostly centered around mornings only ? Just curious for ideas.

I have had the exact same symptoms as you, except it's been 4 days in a row. The diarrhea is always in the morning and everyday it seems to get more and more frequent. Absolutely no fever, no fatigue, no stomach or abdominal pains, etc. Hopefully I can see my doctor sometime next week but I'm starting to take Metamucil along with Immodium and calcium supplements. I'm sick if letting nature run it's course.

Any chance you've added something new to your diet?

Drinks with caffeine can really "run through" people as the caffeine stimulates the colon. Does this happen shortly after a cup of coffee or anything like that?

Not to share too much information, but sometimes coffee really gets me going. I regularly drink coffee every morning, too, and sometimes nothing happens, but other times I can't get to the bathroom quickly enough. I know it's the caffeine because it happens within 30 minutes of drinking the coffee, regardless of what time I drink it. Caffeine is a stimulant and just as it can "perk" you up and give that little energy boost, it can also really act on the colon and stimulate it as well, thus the diarrhea.

Are you anxious about anything? That can affect the bowels, too.

If your issue continues, definately get it checked out to rule out any other problems. Better safe than sorry.

I drink coffee almost every morning, and it does not stimulate my bowels. I wish that it did, actually, because I OFTEN have constipation problems. This incident (actually lasted 4 days, I went back and checked my calendar where I record symptoms, since I often have constipation issues) was unlike anything I've ever experienced, ever. Having to run to the bathroom every morning for four mornings in a row--- I am now thinking it was food poisoning of some kind. I really don't think it was anxiety.

After these 4 days, I had normal bowel function for a week (1X or 2X per day and normal) and have been back to my constipation ever since... people who have normal bowel functions sure are lucky! And those who think all you need to do is eat a lot of fiber, drink a lot of water, and exercise don't understand I.B.S.

someadventure, are you feeling better today? What did your doctor think?

Thanks everyone for the responses.
