Hi everyone after suffering for good few years on and off i was sent for an x-ray and the findings were:-

slight degenerative narrowing of the disc space L5-S1
Spina Bifida Occulta at S1

My pain symptoms have been mostly lower back area and legs. It is a struggle to bend over to wash my hair and brush my teeth as the pain is quite bad. I get lower back ache with a lot of stabbing pains on my left and right hip area. Also get the same stabbing pains in various areas of my legs, upper and lower.

I am being referred to the hospital and have to wait for an appointment.

Has anyone else suffered this and any idea what will happen??

I do a manual job which involves a lot of bending and lifting so i am guessing i will have to look for another job.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Spina biffida occulta is a congenital abnormality - meaning it's been there your whole life. Some people go through life and never realize they have this abnormality because they never have symptoms of any pain, etc. As we age many of us get disc space narrowing. The findings are not out of the ordinary for someone who has back pain. Sometimes these things can exist and then one move in a certain direction begins to cause pain or one day you just start to feel that ache that eventually leaRAB you to a doctor for help.
