I have non- allergic adult onset asthma. Prior to this I have suffered years of sinus problems or infections with lots of post nasel drip. I thought it was allergies but my asthma doc tested me and i was negative but he couldnt figure out why my upper nose had constant mucus regardless of taking perscription nasel sprays. The perscription nasel spray defently helps with reducing the post nasel drip. I asked him if I had a deviated septum or something and he said no after he looked at my nose.
well I asked him if I could just do saline washes in my nose instead of the nose spray and he said it would help that I probably only need the nose spray when the irritants occur such as the summer. so i quit the perscription nasel spray and a week later I got sick with a really bad cold. The muccus running down my throat was massive. After that was over the next two weeks I suffered misserably with what I thought was a sinus infection. I had all the symptoms, except my mucus is clear. I waited it out and after two weeks it was better then a week later I started getting the same thing so I just went and saw an ENT
The ENT says I have a deviated spetum and I need surgery to correct it so that I can breath normally and it wll correct this issues with postnasel drip, thus reducing my sinus infections and and allowing me to breath and be symptom free. Is it true that this surgry can correct chronic post nasel drip?
Im curious why my astma doctor said I didnt have a deviated septum and not the ENT says I do?
Im hesitatnt to do surgery but want to make sure I infact need it. The ENT makes sense though. At birth I was born with a smashed nose that could have caused this problem later in life.
Any thoughts?
thanks
