Destroy the Rebirth - "Gundam 00" Season 2 on SyFy's Ani-Monday Talkback

I think I need a minute...

I started watching my Escaflowne DVD from Netflix and I thought "I should look at the trailers" and I saw one for Gundam Wing. I was like, "Oh wow, a Wing trailer! This should be good." Now I probably should have gotten the hint when I heard Optimus Cullen Prime narrating but I have the excuse that I didn't have cable back then. Anyway, I watch the trailer and I think "Man, this is nice. Good ol' Wing." Now I would have been content if it was a normal trailer, BUT, it occured to me that this sounded like something I'd see on TV.

That's when he said it, "Gundam Wing. Weekdays at 5:30. Only on Toonami.!" (TOM flashes by with Cartoon Network logo)

Normally, I would have made a joke about how old the DVD must be but I was too busy crying (oh toonami)

Here is the episode 2 epilogue.

Setsuna and Sumeragi board the Ptolemy. The crew welcomes Sumeragi back and complement her strategy, but Sumeragi is still downcast. Lyle comes from behind them. Everyone is stunned and Lyle remarks on the warm welcome, but Sumeragi informs the crew that this is Lockon's little brother.

The video cuts to Billy, who is throwing a temper tantrum in his apartment.

Another cut. Tieria is gliding down a hallway, thinking to himself that "that man" isn't him...referring to how Lyle is not like Lockon. Another quick cut has Wang remarking that 00 activated. She looks satisfied with herself.

Two final quick cuts. Marina Ismail is being held in a prison cell. Elsewhere, Alleujah Haptism is bound in a strait jacket. He opens his eyes and thinks one word. Marie......

Now now, it has a new graphic at the top! Technically, that's an update.

......yeah. That's pretty weak right there. They could at least add in the new mobile suits.

It reminRAB me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGV0CLcN9JE

Other than the fact she look exactly like that other Innovator who works for the A-laws?

Maybe it's a blessing. I remeraber during season one they added what they claimed to be the 0 Gundam, but we later found out was actually the 00. It'd be a shame if they ruin anything else due to sloppy updates.

Episode 19 epiloque replayed in the next episode? I have to go back and look at the Japanese episodes, I don't want to spoil it if it does air in the next episode.

I set my DVR back a couple of minutes just in case but I'm not going to hold my breath. More likely than not I'm going to get a piece of Rave Master's finale instead.

Here are the epilogues for this week. None of this will be shown on SyFy.

Shadow of the Innovators

Ribbons is shown with his "Innovator eyes," so to speak. He comments that only he is worthy of 00 and asks if Regene agrees. Regene says yes, but Ribbons mutters that her answer is nonsense.

In space Wang Liu Mi's ship goes dead, its systems locked. A surprised Wang speculates that they've been hacked by Veda. Meanwhile Ribbons slaps Regene, sending her glasses flying. Ribbons threatens her, telling her to never act without permission again.

Wang orders Hong to prepare an escape shuttle. Nena Trinity appears and Wang asks for help, but she answers mockingly that she was the one that hacked them. Her craft opens up, revealing the Throne Drei--yep, it was still around. The Drei opens fire. As Hong grabs Wang, the ship literally starts going down in flames. Nena laughs manically, savoring the moment.

Anew Returner

This takes place aboard the Ptolemy. Lyle shrieks. We see him punching Setsuna mercilessly, calling him a bastard for killing Anew. Setsuna is bruised and bleeding in the lip. Tieria tells Lyle to stop, but Lyle just tells him to shut up. He continues that Anew was going to come back as a human, not an innovator. Lyle starts to continue but his punches become weak, and he completely breaks down. Alleujah, Marie and Saji are standing outside, downcast. Thinking to himself, Saji laments that this happened even though they understood each other. He thinks of Louise, realizing that the two of them will end up having to fight each other eventually. Louise's machine is shown flying away with two escape poRAB in tow--obviously belonging to the two Innovators that were defeated by 00 while Lyle was trying to win Anew back.

Back on the Ptolemy, Marina is singing her song in the background. Setsuna thinks that he can hear it. On Earth, Marina is shown singing it to the children in that cottage Shirin told them to hide in.

Rough stuff this week.

Memento Mori. With this merciless weapon at their disposal, A-Laws can ruthlessly crush all opposition on the Earth. Knowing this, Celestial Being and Katharon prepare to destroy it. With A-Laws and the Innovators expecting such an assault, can this garabit truly succeed?

Tonight's schedule:

11 PM: Assault on Memento Mori
11:30 PM: A Song Is Heard

I gotta say, I'm actually surprised to see the tech level kept so consistent throughout. We're not just told the new machines can match the Gundams through some invisible stats, but you can clearly see where they outmatch the hulking and slow (or agile but spindly and fragile) machines from season 1.

Though at the same time, I guess I'm not as impressed with Season 2's Gundams thus far, because they really seem to be on the same level as last season's. Sure, the 00 took out a battle ship, but the 00 Riser has been the only really noticeable upgrade this season.
