Dynamic personalities are of course necessary in a sense of finding world peace. However, Saji for all his retention of the gentle personality he had was made a little wiser and more dynamic in world outlook by hanging out with the likes of Setsuna and piloting the 0 Raiser. Marina I cannot say the same for in that kind of development.
Personally I never thought Marina was that bad throughout the Second Season, serving as a nice counterpoint to what was going on in the world. I really just have issues with her leading Azadistan again. Yes she's going to use the aid of the Federation to help others, yes she couldn't technically do anything much about Azadistan because Ali kindof burned it down. However taking care of children, lamenting that she wanted to be a music teacher, and playing songs did not necessarily translate to an active desire to go back to Azadistan, let alone show or imply that there would be a wiser and better ruler out of Marina when she does. I mean, as the series hit its crescendo even she was dodging the literal and figurative bullets that would have made for perhaps better character development. Then while it served as a nice bookened to the differing paths to peace between her and Setsuna, I just don't believe her time in the Second Season was plausible enough for me to accept her back into Azadistan. With the way it kindof veered off course four years ago, let alone that we don't know how well she governed within the four years into the Second Season, it didn't really seem right.
I mean, am I not thinking right or something? Am I missing something that colours a more enlightened opinion about Marina? Help me out here.
