Destroy the Rebirth - "Gundam 00" Season 2 on SyFy's Ani-Monday Talkback

So it begins...again.

Ohhh...No op!

Darn United Federation of Planets!

Oh, That Chick With the Glasses!

That peacekeeping force is known as GDI!

Hey, Mr. Rogers! And Fla-I mean Soma!

Say by some miracle she managed to kill Ali and the Innovators and gain her revenge. Do you really think Nena would have settled down after that? I'm not saying she would be running about killing every person who looked at her the long way (though it would not be out of character for her), but she would probably have continued to commit various crimes (up to and including murder) to get by in life, and I doubt she would have ever felt remorse for it as the years passed.

Dynamic personalities are of course necessary in a sense of finding world peace. However, Saji for all his retention of the gentle personality he had was made a little wiser and more dynamic in world outlook by hanging out with the likes of Setsuna and piloting the 0 Raiser. Marina I cannot say the same for in that kind of development.

Personally I never thought Marina was that bad throughout the Second Season, serving as a nice counterpoint to what was going on in the world. I really just have issues with her leading Azadistan again. Yes she's going to use the aid of the Federation to help others, yes she couldn't technically do anything much about Azadistan because Ali kindof burned it down. However taking care of children, lamenting that she wanted to be a music teacher, and playing songs did not necessarily translate to an active desire to go back to Azadistan, let alone show or imply that there would be a wiser and better ruler out of Marina when she does. I mean, as the series hit its crescendo even she was dodging the literal and figurative bullets that would have made for perhaps better character development. Then while it served as a nice bookened to the differing paths to peace between her and Setsuna, I just don't believe her time in the Second Season was plausible enough for me to accept her back into Azadistan. With the way it kindof veered off course four years ago, let alone that we don't know how well she governed within the four years into the Second Season, it didn't really seem right.

I mean, am I not thinking right or something? Am I missing something that colours a more enlightened opinion about Marina? Help me out here.

These cuts actually made me angry. Nena was in them! And they cut out an awesome scene! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Yeah, Anew was a nice enough girl, and it stinks seeing her die that way.

Innovators, man I will be dancing when they get their desserts!

I liked these two latest episodes, especially the third episode when they performed the jailbreak. Sumeragi's strategy for handling the whole thing was pretty clever, and all the Gundam Meisters, including the supposed amateur, were on their game when it came to their duties. While the following episode wasn't quite as dramatic, it still had some interesting conversation pieces, and the battle at the end was getting pretty heated until it was interrupted. And yeah, it's pretty disappointing that the epilogues are being cut. While some of them don't sound that significant of a loss, it's too bad that the others that do end up being cut.

Finally got to watch this tonight; had to go to bed a little early last night (stupid scheduling). Glad to see the team back together albeit with a different Lockon.

Flay = God, ha ha

Wish they could find some way to show the epilogues though.

And now, out goes SciFi, in comes SyFy. Yea?

When hasn't there been jumping around in Gundam? The first season people were being toss in different locations and scenes all the time.

Plus, as you already mention, episode 2 started with Setsuna meeting Lockon II. Its not like people expect the show to follow from the previous episode in exact chronological detail. Viewers should be able to piece together what is going on.

Out of curiosity, was Marina in a straitjacket too?

No. [strike]She is wearing some standard jumpsuit.[/strike] Al is like that since he's considered dangerous. The FeRAB know he was a Meister.
