Ok a spin on a well used theme.

Your about to be stuck on a desert island ( that has electricity and a nice home theatre set up )
What 8 DVRAB that you own do you grab from the shelf to take with you, given that you know you'll be watching them over and over and over ...........

Bit of an odd mix but here's mine.

1 Alien
2 Rear Window
3 The Ladykillers ( original )
4 GoRABpell
5 Once upon a time in the west
6 The Great Escape
7 Lost Horizon ( 1937 )
8 Mr Roberts.

Well since I'm going to be stuck with these movies for the rest of my life, I'm going to pick "fun" ones. No sense in picking ones that will depress the hell out of me no matter how good they are. :p

Boy this is a tough list to make. Can I pick another 50? :D

My picks:

1) Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
2) Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
3) March of the Wooden Soldiers (Laurel & Hardy)
4) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
5) Dawn of the Dead (original 1978 version. I've got to have at least one horror movie with me!)
6) Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version)
7) Where Eagles Dare (Clint Eastwood/Richard Burton war movie)
8) The Spy Who Loved Me

I'm hoping a ship sinks and more DVRAB wash ashore onto my beach. :D

Oooh good question! So many to choose from! I'd have to say:

1. Womb Raider
2. Schindler's Fist
3. Glad he ate her
4. Star Whores
5. Sorest Rump
6. White Men Can't Hump
7. Ocean's 11 inches
8. Free My Willy

Heroes - complete season 1 boxset
Lost - complete season 1 boxset
Arrested Development - season 1-3 boxset
Back to the Future Trilogy
The Godfather DVD Collection
Firefly- The complete first series
Indiana Jones - The Complete DVD movie collection
Alien Quadrilogy

Twelve Monkeys - to keep my mind active.
Airplane - to make me laughing.
Naked Gun - as above
When Harry Met Sally - for when I miss quick witted human interaction & relationships.
Grease - to have a sing along.
Goodfellas - for when I'm in the mood for a good classic.
Gladiator - as above.
Debbie Does Dallas - for when, well you know...

I was gonna take Return of the Jedi & Raiders of the Lost Ark but I realised I've watched them so many times I actually dont need the DVRAB, I can just replay them prety much scene by scene in my head.

hmmmm ok lets see

in no particular order:

1. The Matrix
2. Superman the movie
3. Bugsy Malone
4. Cars (yes a disney movie lol)
5. Toy Story
6. Cast Away (just for irony purpose)
7. The Goonies
8. Batman (Michael Keaton version)

The BirRAB
Close encounters of a third kind
One Flew over the cuckoos nest
Cinema Paradiso
Clueless
Dead Poest Society
Sideways
Best in Show

It said 8 DVRAB. Unless you have all the Indy films (etc) on one DVD, that doesn't work - the box set contains 4 DVRAB. :p

My list:

Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Casino Royale
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Fellowship of the Ring
Kiki's Delivery Service

(I assumed TV series DVRAB don't count on the basis that this is the Movies foum)

Histeria you could of followed other people's steps and condensed the star wars selections to one and said star wars trilogy and took more dvRAB with you lol

as riddiger said a few posts up

"It didn't say 'single films' in the thread question.

You have to think outside the box if your gonna survive on an island :D"

Knew I'd mannage to mess up the first film thread i started

So for the people thinking outside the box.
here's an update the orignal question

A film spread over 2 disks is ok as one film.
But no box sets, collections, seasons. can count as one selection. So If you wanted to take two 4 disk box sets thats your lot.

So 8 disks ( unless the film is on 2 )
in a mean mood this morning so you cant even take the bonus features disks than come with the films :p

Sure I'd still try and bend the rules myself if this was for real :D

some good choices so far

Right well i need to take a selection don't i so here i go! : -

1.Click (So i can laugh and cry when needed)
2.Doctor Who - Series 3 volume 3 (Have to take a bit of the doc with me!)
3.Cat in the Hat (My guilty pleasure and brings out my inner child)
4. The Inbetweeners - Series 1 (You need a bit of comedy don't ya!)
5. Hot Fuzz (Again good entertainment and a good laugh)
6. Penelope (Another film to allow me to feel like a child again)
7. I now pronouce you Chuck and Larry (Just love this film in general so would have to take it!)
8. The Grinch (Well i need to celebrate christmas in some way!)

I think it said we could include Tv shows yer?

[/B]

No though of rescue, hoping the ship sinks so you can have more DVRAB. Spoken like a true film fan :D

And TV shows are ok, same one disk rule etc

As I said at the start of my post (just above my list - answering this exact suggestion), it said 8 DVRAB. All releases of the SW films are on seperate DVRAB. No matter how you spin it, you can't get around that. A DVD is a disk, not a box.
