Derren Brown Live: Hero at 30,000 feet, C4 10pm

The difficulty is trying to pin down what Keelboots believes in:

I don't think for one moment he thinks Derren is for real having read two of Derrens books on magic tricks.

However when you ask the question about how any of this show was good mentalism/magic he backs off like a shot.

Imply that Matt may be a bit more in the know than Derren portrays and again all is quiet--by in the know I mean so used to Derrens shows that he knows exactly how he thinks he should react.

Keelboots, I think we can nip this argument in the bud.

I think you need to define what you mean by "fake".

You say that you believe that DB didn't fake the Russian Roulette, Lottery or "Hero" but also that you know that all magic tricks are fake.

I've still not seen "Hero" (but I will tonight). Do you mean that you think the group on the Lottery show (for instance) actually picked the winning numbers?

Or do you mean that you realise that they didn't pick the numbers but you don't believe DB faked the presentation by using camera trickery?

I only gave it poor because I knew what he was doing. I would still love for him to go back to that style, even if I guess a few from the preview/first five minutes. I'd respect his honesty.

I have read Derrens first books (magician only ones) and know a lot about his techniques. So yes actually. Ive seen him do it live-no actors!

Are you saying anchoring isnt a technique? That you
cannot do what Derren does with hypnosis? You do know Derren started out as a hypnotist?

You dont believe it I assume? That;s cool. I dont recall reading any people saying they went along with Derren shows and that they werent really hypnotised/didnt know what was happening.

Spoon feed me where that band shipped in from, and how we as his audience are supposed to overlook something like that in the grand scheme of things? What's the subtext there? It was like something you'd expect from The Simpsons if ever an empowerment Guru came to Springfield.

By the looks of things, the only person being spoon fed anything here is you, and you're lapping it up.

Oh no.. 'I didnt want to be one of those people that didnt stand up.'. he gives it away in the end as all a set up to prove a point..

Hi all,

Havnt had a chance to read the whole thread, but a few points I wanted to make.

1.) We could hear what "Matt" was saying the whole time, as though he was miked up.
2.)The poor guy was basically forced into landing the plane, not really a decision.
3.)The train took about an hour to travel 100 meters, ad was going REALLY slowly.
4.)I thought it was going to ne Live??

I thought it was a good entertainment show, but I found this the 1st one of Derren Browns shows where I havnt been on the edge of my seat and in shock.

True but it would be nice to know. Being a franchise and making their prices sky high means they need all the money they can get. Peep show is also filmed for various scenes in Mill Hill Broadway:cool:

I have watched the Gathering recently. I'm not like you who spouts nonsense and the when challenged says I don't remember that, its a while since I've watched it, I missed that bit.

Don't get hung up on my length of time involved with magic, I've still got lots to learn. It was just a way of putting into perspective your dismissive comments to others based on your 30 years of knowledge.

Main point we should all skirt very carefully around is that Matt was in London for the filming of this piece.

But panic not there is an explanation:

Matt was hypnotised and put on a train to London but then hypnotised to think he was still in LeeRAB.

Other than that the other option is he went into this scenario knowing something was coming.
