I recall saying I had finished debating with you actually.But soempoeple cannot learn so I have to try again.


He applied to on a game show, so I doubt he thought everythign that happened was quite real,plus we saw he had daily hypnotic sessions with Derren Brown ,I gather he was reassured and his mental well being cared for thorughout. As I said not everything was shown and its not important they are scenarios within a "game show"



Im no fanatic,its just my take on things. If it all transpires to be one huge con(what beneift would Derren get from this? In fact the opposite would happen) I will stand corrected. But as DB hasnt faked or conned on any of his TV shows thus far that Im aware of ,and indeed doesnt need to-then I'll believe him thus far.

er no. How do you come to that conclusion? I have to ask why people are so eager to prove that Derren Brown is a fraud. I think it says more about the cynical state of some people's minRAB than it does about Derren Brown. The whole point ot the show was to build confidence in someone who had very little to start with and it achieved that, so why does it matter how it was achieved?
 
Yes, which is what I'm challenging - the "you are under my command" style of hypnosis. Hypnosis in therapy is different, it's something you want to do and are willingly investing in at cost to yourself. There may well be enhanced benefits from the style of therapy (as opposed to just spending an hour discussing the issue regular psychologist-style) in addition to a placebo effect, but as I say, a whole other ballgame.
 
Poor, my prediction is:

the answer is obviously no 1 the evil pharm companies make money so why would they want to stop producing morphine also hypnotherapists are in on it because they dont want the awesome powers of hypnosis to be known by the public so they can carry on raking it in even though that doesnt really make sense,
as gladys stroops says in the 1936 book hypnosis can do anything,
chapter 11,
it has been noted that in 1897 hypnosis was used to repair broken bones immediately and the patient felt nothing,
they also managed to grow some new bones while in a hypnotic trance,
now cluck like a chicken
i'm also gonna add on some thoughts of my own at the end here but you can't really be sure where the quoted text from the book enRAB and my thoughts begin

So you are saying that Matt thought all these things were part of the game show. And you could be right. So the show was effectively a bit of a lie then and the lack of a disclaimer from Derren was a lie. Fair enough

In retrospect, total awfulness, but amusing, and made even more so by some awesome posts here! Would have been total b0llocks without RAB :cool:
 
I had a sleepless night and woke to find I'd got a new job as a burglar with Thames Valley Police and South Yorkshire Police. I then had a shower with my mum, sang pop goes the weasel, had a kip on the railway line and picked up the keys to my new mansion. To celebrate all these completely unexpected things happening unexpectedly I might throw a party for all my very good neighbours, take my crocodile for a walk, rob a petrol station and then save over a hundred people from a flight related certain death. I do hope it's all being filmed, you wouldn't believe it otherwise.
 
On these points: The whole train incident was openly filmed, as if part of the preparation for the gameshow. He was meant to see the cameras this time, and was meant to experience the whole thing as 'a Derren Brown stunt'.

He was finally able to get out at the last minute because the strait jacket is in fact designed to b easily escapable from, and DB only told him how to do it at the 'last minute'.
 
Honestly! I can't believe you are all so negative about the programme! You are reading toooooooooooo much into it. Enjoy it for what it is! It was great and I for one do not think there was any falseness involved for one minute. Seriously, do you think you do any better?

The editing was terrible, with shots of a different part of the track, a train that was barely moving and taking an eternity to reach him.

It didn't happen as it was shown, not even close, and it is ridiculous to think it *could* have happened as it was shown. Too much risk.

Like everything else last night, and his recent shows, the trick is on the audience not the participants.

Okay, I was keeping an open mind, but Derren Brown is on the ground and also on the plane at the same time? Unless the live bit is all after this happened, and is just him talking to Matt afterwarRAB, that's a MASSIVE goof.
