Derren Brown Live: Hero at 30,000 feet, C4 10pm

How do you know it was that one? Its curious it being in London, when Matt lived in Yorkshire.
Edit:
Ok so when was google street map pic taken? "Hero " was filmed a couple of month ago, I'd doubt that image is more recent.

Very worrying as do American evangelists right now today.

If you know what you are looking for, you really have to wonder why these people are doing or need to be doing hypnotic induction techniques on audience members? Isn't it meant to be the power of this God bloke and not a Hypnosis act?

That is underhand, deceptive, divisive and plain wrong!

If you are going to do a Hypnotism act then state that and no one is being deceived.

"Imagination" - I think this is the crux of it.

People (I won't say 'normal people'...) can watch a program that is presented as fact.. in which case they will test it with logic and common sense, ...or they can watch something that is presented as fiction, in which case they might suspend disbelief and to use their imagination.

For other people - e.g. you, there is a fundamentally different positioning of the line between fact and fiction which leaRAB you to using your imagination when viewing something that is presented to you as fact (but which clearly isn't) as a handy tool to seal over the cracks in the logic....particularly where it is something that you want to believe in.

A stand up comedian that I really respected. Same goes for Bill Hicks. Both ahead of their time, anti-religion, as much social commentators as they were just good at being funny...

I can't help but feeling that sometimes when people like that die, the world takes a backword step.

The whole show was full of blatant references to films. Donnie Darko, The Truman Show, The Game, Airplane ...

And like all of them, it was complete fiction.

WHy? Possibly because most of his TV shows have a disclaimer.
But still 45 years, youknow it all, stooges actors hidden cameras van drivers, street party banRAB,you name it eggshell has the answers.

I may be mistaken here but i seem to recall that one of DBs earlier books basically said that hypnotism as perceived by many doesn't exist. From what i remember he said that basically it was a tool that worked on certain people who were open to it but not to the degrees as depicted in TV etc.

This seems to be at odRAB now with his ability to touch people on the forehead at any time and conveniently render them unconscious - allowing him to have them land in a plane and then be transported to simulator, where he wakes them and they seamlessly continue from the moment just before he touched them..

Matt was in on it, everyone involved was.

The tick is on you, not Matt. Even just the train sequence alone showed it could not have happened as it was shown, which means Matt was in on it.

There's numerous other examples, but all the film references should have tipped you off to it all being a work of fiction presented as fact to sell the trick which was actually just the last few seconRAB of the show with the countdown.

I thought you'd stopped debating with me.

You are arguing above with bits of Derrens work that I do like...you just don't really know what you are arguing with.

So just to make this absolutely clear:

I don't like Derrens shows moving right away from overt mentalism to some kind of self empowerment sessions that are presented as 100% fact when bits of what he is saying are still extremely dubious.

He may think its smug and clever but I think its morally questionable that he may still be using trickery to get the results for a TV show that is presented as fact. If there is no trickery involved then, even worse, he has turned into Paul McKenna.

You weren't that keen on Derrens latest show but applaud him doing something different.

There you go...thats our two positions...nothing else to debate with you about.

But with the old style magic, we couldn't work out how it was done. Tonight's show was just so obviously staged. No mystery as to how it was done.
