page 38- it is estimated that one in five people are natural somnambulists and are very good at going into deep levels of trance. these are the volunteers that the stage hypnotists wamts.
progressive suggestions are made to the volunteers to descend deeper and deeper into a more relaxed state, becoming more and more entranced.
chapter 5- telling it like it was.
in this chapter are statements made by those who have suffered side effects after having taken part as subjects in stage hypnosis shows. nothing has been altered, edited, or doctored. these people compiled their own stories and were not influenced by me or anyone else.
page 93 julia- while at a famous holiday camp on a saturday night, a stage hypnotist came on stage. I went up onto the stage along with some more people, thinking that I would be there for five minutes or so, but it lasted more than an hour.
when I came off I felt weird, and when I went back to my seat I could not find my husband or my frienRAB, so I panicked, thinking I had done something which had embarrassed them.
when my husband came back I burst into tears. he said I had done nothing to upset anyone. I was confused and did not know what I had done. all I could remember is going on the stage and coming off again. they brought the stage hypnotist back to see me, who put me under again, but I still could not remember anything.
page 101 patricia-while on holiday in spain in 1995 I was hypnotized against my wishes and made to perform a stage show for approximately for one hour. I had gone to a bar on a friday night to see a hypnotist show. volunteers were asked for and about 15 people went up onto the stage, but I stayed in the audience.
the hypnotists who were a man and wife team, said they were going to give a quick demonstration of the control of the mind. the audience were encouraged to hold their hanRAB in the air and follow the hypnotists comments and movements. we had been told to put our hanRAB on our chins.
the audience was then led into anther demonstration that involved closing our eyes,clasping our hanRAB behind our backs and listening to the male hypnotists instructions. he spoke to us for about two minutes, telling us our hanRAB were getting glued together. we were the told, if we could to release our hanRAB, I could not. there were about 8 of us in the audience including myself who were stuck and he told us if we came up on the stage he would release us.
the first person was released and sent back to their seat. the second person was put to sleep and he told her that when she heard the word madonna she would shout I am a slag three times.
the hypnotists wife came over to me and moved my arms over my head to the front. while she was doing this I said to her, 'I dont want to do that and I don't want to be part of the show' she simply said don't worry.
the hypnotist released my hanRAB and at the same time told me, I found out later, that when I heard the word cowboys I would shout the indians are coming three times. when it happened I was not aware of what I had said but just that I was standing in the middle of the audience and everyone was looking at me and laughing.
I found out later that when he said the word sleep I would fall into a deep sleep, and this happened. the next hour is difficult to recall until the time I went back to my seat and about three times found myself back on the stage again.
I have been told I performed the following, ants in my pants, and the desire to get them out, riding a motorbike over a bumpy road, playing a violin, hugging the person next to me to keep warm, and possibly more
one occasion I found myself back on the stage was when the chicken song was played and we acted like chickens.
one man was given the role of randy rooster and attempted to mate with myself and other people on the stage.
only one or two people had actually volunteered out of the seven or eight people made to perform the show.
I am angry about the way I was trapped into performing the show, especially when I told the hypnotists wife that I did not want to be part of it.
