Derren Brown Live: Hero at 30,000 feet, C4 10pm

All this proved was that the people who believed that hypnosis worked on them claimed to have fuzzier memories than the people who didn't.

They missed a trick here. If they had got the "hypnosis-susceptible" group to have better recall than the "un-susceptible" group they'd really be onto something. It couldn't be accused of fakery/social compliance..

Hypnosis-susceptible people have different brain scans to others? Hmmmm....well if it helps research into causes of amnesia then I say well done to them.

Isn't this what happened to you?

I feel you still owe us an ending to your own story.

Bother, really wanted to watch this again, but it's gone off 4od. Is this because it's supposedly being investigated by Offcom after a non-record-breaking 11 complaints, mostly from an 0151 dialling code?

It was originally available for 30 days- from the 8th of sept, when it aired, so it should still be there.

Meh

The obvious motivation would be to create the impression that all of his previous sunts had that element of risk, the same potential to fail, when in fact they were simply elaborate magic tricks that only ever had one possible outcome.

So , in the interests of those saying they are tired of people just saying crap crap crap.

1) The show looked very much to me like somebody just taking part in a number of motivational role plays. Derren then dressed that up a bit for the audience.

Proof:

Matt struggled with the van driver and it felt totally regurgitated rather than spontaneous.

The editing on the train track piece was pretty poor --at one point I am sure the train appeared to be on a track with switch points to another line but the surroundings didn't show two lines.

Matt didn't question at all how he went from an airplane in broad daylight to a cockpit at night time. He also wasn't too phased about walking out of the plane to find it was a flight simulator.

I've no doubt he found it motivating but trying to dress his frankly rather boring role plays up as something to entertain the masses with, was done very badly and wasn't remotely entertaining.

Luckily this thread was.

Oh Matt's an actor now? Not just his girlfriend-as was said last night!?
Same was said about guy on Russian Roulette, never seen him since, hasnt cropped in Emmerdale ;)

People on this thread are complete idiots, who criticise what they don't understand. What he does is very simple Psychology, but uses it to do good things.

I think it's established that he was a big fan who was willing do anything he was told. Not a stooge but not exactly a random person either.

It was basically just a whole bunch of role plays edited together to tell a story. I still don't believe he didn't know he was being filmed. Didn't we see a camera crew in many of the big scenes?

I was disturbed by the positive/self-improvement aspect of the show largely because I don't think that stealing a van or breaking into someones house are good steps to take on the road to self-fulfillment (and because I hate the self-help positive thinking industry :D:D:D).

Agreed.I love Derren's live shows and hi searly specials but now ,I dunno he is moving into life coaching

Wonder what they did to that crocodile, only interesting part so far.
