Derren Brown Live: Hero at 30,000 feet, C4 10pm

That and the fact that the girlfriend and best friend character were terrible actors in their VTs, there was nothing natural about their performances.

If you believe that Derren is as good as he thinks he is there is going to be some clever long term twist, although maybe he's just run out of good ideas and reached the limit of his abilities.

The point of faking it all was to make that particular show he wanted, how he wanted. Hopefully enough people believe him that his credibility isn't hurt that much. However judging by reaction it didn't work.

If there was police at the petrol station then I retract that criticism and wipe that anomaly out of my thinking. There are still countless others though.

There is no explanation that would persuade me Keelboots, in my whole life I don't think I have seen anything so unconvincing that is supposed to be genuine.

Either the show was 100% scripted and Matt was just acting it out or there was no script for Matt but he was fully aware of what was going on and was just playing along, which is improvised acting.

If he was in some insane hypnotic state, which when you look at what he failed to see around him and how he acted must be akin to possession of the mind (in which case it still wasn't Matt's decision) with 80% of your active mind shut off, then lets pray the military and worldwide secret services don't get hold of this ability. Need an assassination,no problem, we will do what Brown did and get Joe average to go kill person x which will be suggested to him by kissing a hyena, he will just feel that it is "the right thing to do", then he will go off inhis zombie like, all infleuenced state and do the deed after a few key triggers. As someone said before it is like something out of the Simpsons.

There was loaRAB of bits where camera angles and shots didn't add up. Let alone be able to be framed and captured correctly.

In the bit before the party, both the gf AND Matt look directly towarRAB one of the cameras for no reason without thinking.

And the train bit was so badly filmed and edited as to be laughable.

My information is based on my memory, which is naturally prone to error!

Or (probably) me! But my point wasn't supposed to be about the little details (whether an envelope was used, whether he talked to the boys). My point was that in every show, a person sitting in the audience, apparently an audience member, had written "cock" on a piece of paper.

I blame my poor memory on Derren flashing the word "FORGET" up on the screen! :D

Yes, I remember reading about this so possibly I've read what you wrote about it before. This backs up what I said earlier in the thread; thanks.

Hmmm

I hated Brown's lotto show (total pants) so hope this is worth watching !

I'd have said something about the smoke and would hate to find out that people were watching me so my dull life was exposed!:o:o

But the makers of these programmes don't claim that these places are real. They are drama. But Derren expects us to believe that his fictional programme was real.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I've just watched this on the Sky+ and I was completely furious from about five minutes in. Just like the lottery programme, it was utter garbage and an insult to the audience's intelligence. Absolutely none of that was real. None of it. Complete nonsense from start to finish.

Just like with the last one, Derren Brown has shown that his main skill is getting lots of people to watch pointless, pointless rubbish. I won't be watching any more of his crap.

Haven't read the thread yet. Did people like/believe this?

It reaRAB both ways - the interpretation they're going for (presumably) is that they can't be hoaxed satisfactorily (ie, the hoaxes look different to 'the real thing'), and that it's explaining this (why the hoaxes don't stand up to scrutiny) that is difficult.

But anyway, I'm confused now as to why any idiot would still think they're a hoax, given that they're "scientifcally proven" to be tubes of light guided by intelligence, and it was all captured by a Japanese camera crew in 1989. What kind of dolt would still question it with all this evidence*?

(*evidence not supplied)

Why would anyone be afraid of anything? Flying is the fear I can most understand. If you don't know how a plane works, you could be terrified of it crashing. You're really high up. Probably links in with vertigo in some cases.
