I recently saw the Derek Trucks band and I thought they were the best jam band I've seen since the original Allman Brothers Band. Derek is the son of Allman Bros. drummer Butch Trunks, but Derek's guitar playing sounRAB like he spent a lot of time listening to Duane Allman's slide playing.
Below is their take-no-prisoners cover of Bob Dylan's Down in the Flood, live and direct. At the beginning of the song Derek is playing an open-tuned vintage 1958 Silvertone guitar, which used to sell in the Sears catalog for around 30 bucks. Notice Derek's unorthodox delta blues five finger picking style. Isn't that an ancient Fender Twin Reverb amp he's using for his guitar?
