Deprivation for blacks in America. My advice to you and the media?

I'm not going to bore people with little details and what have you but I will make a few points.

#1 - Hundreds of jobs nowadays are looking specifically for minorities. This should open up a world of opportunity for the black/brown population.

#2 - The black hardships in America ended in the 60's. My Italian and English grandparents immigrated West 3 generations ago with quite literally the clothes on their back. They, like black Americans, were told to "go back home" and get out of "their country" . Fortunately they raised their kids right and are now retired with pension and their children are successful human beings in all aspects.

#3 - Being of Irish and Italian decent it's not like I don't have a lot of American gangster symbols to look up to as a negative role model much like black youths have PLENTY of black "gangsters" to mis-model themselves by. The difference seems to be that blacks WANT the gangster lifestyle even though we, the white are going out of our way to take them away from it.

I know I am going to take a lot of flack for this post, but I just get a little tired and worked up when I constantly hear how bad "they" have it.
 
Well, the media portrays us in a way for the WORLD to see (mostly in a negative light). Also, other people refuse to respect us even if they see positive actions form us (not saying that all actions committed by Blacks are positive, but most non-Blacks seem to have a field day happily putting us down merely for the sake of putting us down).

I do agree with you that it is time for Blacks to take advantage of opportunities and take time to better ourselves though. We shouldn't do it to please you people that will always hate us though...
 
Although a lot of what you said was true, it is the mindset that the older white people taught older black people and that kind of thinking has been passed down. Most black people do not have it that bad because a lot of people put themselves in that position like getting a good job, then stealing from it and losing your job, showing up late, or simply taking advantage, etc. But, things are not easy in this world for a black person, either, but we have to keep fighting.

Black hardships did not end in the 60s, it just became illegal.
 
Are YOU SURE ABOUT THIS, "The black hardships in America ended in the 60's"? Now i'm not going through any hardships..but the Civil Rights Movement started in the '60s, and I know that our hardships didn't juts vanish in a matter of a few years after this. If our hardsihps ended then, we wouldn't have 25%, or somewhere around there, of the black population living below the poverty line, have some racist cops go after us and other minorities, have scholarships just for us,etc. You're not even black...you wouldn't understand.. I love how some of you white ppl say this..but don't know what the hell you're speaking of. Trade places with a black person in some bad parts of the country...you'll see what I mean then...tsk..tsk. I'm getting tired of hearing you bastards b1+ch about black ppl.

Help me: Calling black ppl black/brown isn't crude. It's a hell lot better than going by that politically correct crap. I and most black ppl I know don't mind being called black.
 
I may not be black, but at least I'm trying to look it. I think I do look it, at least part. I curl my hair with sponge rollers and wear sunless tanner. I also wear gloss to play up my full lips. I swear that it is working, that black people are starting to take notice and think I may be at least part black. I get complimented every time I wear my hair curly by black people. I think it does look like black hair, or else why would they compliment it, and no whites compliment it! So I feel that it's working, that maybe I can have some inclusion in this great group after all. My last name it even sounds black because hardly any white people have it. I mean there may be like 19% blacks in this area and most people with my last name are black! I think maybe it is meant to be, that I do have black roots and everyone is taking notice.
 
ok buddy you really cant say they dont have it bad when your not black..
good job tho you did make some good points but in the end your family is white and yes whites are treated better then any other race.
 
agreed-i think people emphasize the differences in their culture too much; that's got us no where. And when some white people say we should apologize for slavery-my family didn't come over here until the late 1800's anyways, and even white people with slave-owner grandparents,as long as they are good people, should not have to answer for the sins of others.

That said, dont say blacks "want" the gangster lifestyle. that's like saying whites "want" the leave it to beaver lifestyle.

Blame the real culprits-propaganda and the media.

but still, white males have the lead in the economy and that's effed up.

And furthermore, im not white, im human. calling black people black/brown is pointless and sounds crude. Skin pigment is .6% of your dna identity.

You make good points but the only thing I don't agree with is that hardships for blacks ended in the 1960s. Black people working on farms were paid next to nothing - some were paid $2 per month. I don't think things could have changed drastically in one decade.

Anyway, I'm not an American so I can't really talk about their hardships on a personal level.
