Depp and Burton re-unite for "Sweeney Todd"

Here is a little bit more info from the Dark Horizons website about it as well:

"DreamWorks Studios has announced the official start of production on Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd" and will partner with Warner Bros. Pictures on producing, finance and distribution.

Official word from the studio Wednesday confirmed Johnny Depp's involvement along with additional details on the movie version of the award-winning Stephen Sondheim musical thriller about a murderous barber wrongfully imprisoned who later seeks revenge on the judge who sent him up the river.

The project is scheduled to go before cameras in London at Pinewood Studios on February 5th with an anticipated late 2007 release. Rehearsals and pre-recordings will begin in November and December.

Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood ("Memoirs of a Geisha") and Oscar-nominated cinematographer Dante Spinotti ("L.A. Confidential") will head up their respective departments, John Logan has penned the script."
 
I am getting worried that Depp is already reknowned for Jack the Ripper (from Hell), a stint in Sleepy Hollow, Pirates, and Willy Wonka.
Is he alreay too well known ?
 
I think I read somewhere that Sondheim will require Depp to have a vocal test before he signs off on the casting.

Apparently, he (Sondheim) gets personally involved in all productions of his work.
 
i cant wait for this film to come out, i love johnny depp and tim burton.
and the tv version of sweeney todd was really good so hopefully this will be to.
